Sun Purple Glass Department Store Shelf Support. These were used to support glass shelves in the department store display shelves. This is a natural sun purple colored glass stand from before 1910 when the glass would turn purple from age and sunlight. There is a goldtone metal band in the center. It has a ribbed outside design. The glass has some roughness around the top and bottom edge but these seem to be part of the rough finish as they did not need to be smoothe like a drinking glss or dish. There are some bubbles in the glass. This would make a beautiful antique vase.
