This is an extremely well done tile depicting two rabbits - one is hopping over the other one. Created with white tube lining of the design and majolica glazes of pale green, brown and deep blue. This is affixed into a silk covered box. The box closes with 2 small ivory or bone clasps. This came in a silk covered box with an ivory (or ivory type) clasp. The tile measures 6" square. The box 6 1/4" square by 3/4" thick. Although the box looks Chinese, I have seen this tile before, and identified as circa 1900. I simply do not know the exact age or maker, but it is a truly great piece of tile art! Both the box and the tile are in excellent condition. (#1203)
