Circa: 1950 Country of Origin: United States Manufacturer: Kromex
A super retro early 1950s round-shouldered canister set by Kromex in pink or copper colored anodized aluminum with black plastic lids. Flour, sugar, coffee and tea canisters are all here. The largest canister is 8-1/2"; tall to the top of the lid by about 7 inches wide, the smallest is 5-1/4" high by 4-1/2" diameter.
The lids have the names spelled out in raised block letters painted white, and as you can see, the paint is still in good condition on this set - it tended to wear away. Another common issue with this style of Kromex canisters is cracking to the black plastic lids, which has occurred to the coffee lid, though it is intact and still fully functional. The sugar lid has a melt mark on the inside rim lip, hidden when it's in place on the canister.
The canisters have minor, typical light wear: a few small scuffs or scratches to the finish or tiny dings here and there. Years of sun exposure has caused some fading to the exterior color - the flour and tea canisters are little brighter than the other two. While not mint, they are still in very good shape and will display beautifully in any vintage or retro kitchen. See my other listings for matching Kromex accessories and other pink aluminum items.
