Circa: 1966 Country of Origin: United States Manufacturer: Sexton
This huge Sexton Gothic style metal wall sconce is dated 1966, the very forefront of the Spanish Mediterranean Revival style of home decor, typified by clunky woods, wrought iron, swords and knights' heads, chains and spikes, usually in colors of black, red, gold, and dark brown.
The sconce is gold painted cast metal with a hammered finish and measures a full 46 inches end to end, nearly 4 feet long. The curved center strip which bows out from the wall about 4 inches. Five candle holders are attached to the center bar with bolted spear-tip posts. Ornate spear-like end pieces with scythe hooks mount flush against the wall. The sconce hangs from five heavy twisted metal chains about 2 feet long. The chains are displayed upside down in the photos, hanging from the bottom of the sconce rather than at the top. Very dramatic and retro-cool, the sconce looks like it came out of a Medieval castle.
The sconce will be shipped partly disassembled - you'll just need a screwdriver to reattach the end pieces. In excellent condition with only very slight gold finish wear around the rims of the candle cups.
