It's NOT too early to be thinking about the upcoming Christmas holiday..... It will be here before you know it. Get ready for it by adding this lovely designed round fringed tablecloth. Coloring is very VIVID and BOLD. Do not believe this was used much because the material is still nice and crisp. The background of this lovely is a beautiful WHITE/WHITE in color. You will love this beauty!! Measures 60"in diameter, not including the 3" fringe around the entire cloth. Vivid red bells, ornaments, red ribbons inter-connecting to make a circle design, green wreaths, pinecones. Finished off in shimmering gold accents throughout the cloth. Material is a nice heavier cotton blend. Is like the quality of any of the vintage WILENDUR tablecloths. When held up to the light you can see soome light faint stains. Those do not detract whatsoever. You would need to freshen this up by a wash to remove some storage marks. Attached fringe is sewn on well by a double-band. Fringe has white satin strings interwined to give it a slight sheen. Lovely VIVID RED POINSETTIAS centered, surrounded by lots and lots of green holly with red berries....
Nice vintage enamelware / graniteware in a striking color of turquoise blue or blue/teal. Believe it was either manufactured by France or maybe Yugoslavia. Could be used for many purposes, for butter, coffee measurer, or syrup. Believe this was a SALESMANS SAMPLE since this piece is much smaller than the normal butter melts. Measures 2-3/4"H, 3-1/8"W(spout to handle)x 31"L. In really good vintage condition. The inside is VERY clean, has some enamel wear along the top lip, some small wear on the bottom and on the handle. The blue is surprisingly in GREAT CONDITION. Can be used again OR as a nice kitchen collectible.
If you love to collect antique prints that are rather UNIQUE - THIS ONE CERTAINLY FITS THAT BILL!! Is TITLED: MOONLIGHT OF THE WABASH, titled in the lower left hand side. The subject manner is rather mesmerizing - the coloring (and so many DIFFERENT shadings),of blacks, greys, greens, golds, browns, charcoal, etc. (Note: the colors are not faded, still very vibrant-sorry the camera either made glare or looks like some fading in the picture-IT IS NOT.) Moonlight in the sky, reflection on the waterfront, can see large windmills in the background, is a EUROPEAN FLAIR in design. Large boats and small rowboats. Can see dim light in the windows of the dark houses. Look to the left side, you can make out a small cemetary, the stones glowing in the moonlight, a woman is walking along side of the house, (to me it looks like a "strange" pair of eyes peeking out of the bushes????....maybe I'm seeing things.....) Can see a man at the end of the pier by the boat. Scene very still, quite, waters are calm...Finished off beautifully with the nice ornate heavy LARGE OAK/WALNUT(?) WOOD frame with gold textured gilt. Some is missing, NOT too bad. The wood has a thin layer of gilt or plaster that was painted the deep color of walnut. Back has the original nails and old wiring. WOW, the back cover is VERY, VERY OLD. Not quite brittle yet. Definately this piece is very dusty and needs to be cleaned inside and out. Would look striking with an art light over the piece!! Believe this dates to the very late 1890's. Print is on heavier, quality paper. I'd like to calll this a chromolithograph, being that there are MANY different colors, dark in nature, but a lot of coloring. GREAT condition. No tears, nor any stains. VERY, VERY NICE ANTIQUE. Wood frame is very heavy. Overall measures a nice large 26-3/4"W x 23-1/4"H. (From the back of the frame to the top of the raised gold gilting, measures 1-1/2"H.) Glass intact. Beautiful period piece.
Great historial FIRST EDITION book dated 1896 - THE FIRST BATTLE - A Story of the Campaign of 1896 - By WILLIAM J.(JENNINGS) BRYAN. Together with a collection of his speeches and a biographical sketch by his wife. ILLUSTRATED. W.B. CONKEY COMPANY, CHICAGO.
Measures 6-1/2 Wide x 9-1/2 High. 630 pages. Nice green cloth bound book, just showing a little loose of binding on inside, front and back. Pencil signed by previous owner. Pages all intact, found only one 1/2 inch tear, *an insect* made home in a page, no stains, has slightly yellowed with age.
Historical illustrations are great, (sorry for glare on picts.from camera),with Signed signature on each of them. *WILLIAM JENNINGS BRYAN 1860-1925, was a Congressman from Nebraska, three-time presidential candidate (1896,1900,and 1909),and later Secretary of State under President Woodrow Wilson.
In 1896, Bryan faced an uphill battle as the Democratic and Populist nominee. Democrats had held the White House for the previous four years and were widely blamed for the severe economic depression of 1893. Furthermore, sitting President Grover Cleveland disapproved of Bryan's political nomination, many Democrats abandoned the party to form the Gold Democrats, or to vote for McKinley. Bryan--who barely acknowledged his nomination by the Populists--decided the best strategy for Democratic victory was to bring his message to the people by speaking around the country, often from the backs of railroad cars. This was a new tactic, since presidential candidates traditionally stayed home and let others speak on their behalf.
The work contains an interesting description of the author's famous tour, including his most important speeches, together with the principal address and documents identified with the campaign of 1896: the whole embodying a faithful presentation of the rise and development of the silver movement.
It also contains a review of the political situation and an analysis of the election returns. The author has included a biographical sketch written by Mrs. Bryan. It won Bryan both criticism and fame. (In August, 1893, when the bill to repeal the Silver Purchase Act was before Congress, Bryan again distinguished himself as a speech-maker. It was said at the time that he made the best showing in the debate of any of the free-silver leaders..)

Nice early 1900's HANDCOLORED, IN WATERCOLORS AND CHARCOAL DESIGN ILLUSTRATION.

Beautiful coloring with subtle colors in a European Architecturial style of a home in a village. Clay tile roof, wood cedar sided homes, wooden shutters, high fence, city lamp post in the street.
VERY GOOD CONDITION, NO stains, No tears. Maintains its original thick champagne beige matte board, the frame was thrown away.
Matted overall measures: 11 inches wide by X 10-3/8 inches high. Actual artwork size on back 6-1/2 inches wide by 6 inches high. Wonderful piece, suitable for framing.
Beautiful piece of ANTIQUE LINEN TABLE RUNNER we had the great fortune to purchase at this quality linen sale where an antique store sold our their store.
Lovely FRUIT MOTIF DESIGN in a EUROPEAN (ROMAN) FLAIR with spiral columns on each side of the runner. Main focal point is the bountiful flow of VARIOUS FRUIT down the center, then bordered on each side a floral motif. GORGEOUS!! There are luscious yellow pears, purple plums, grapes in gold and purple, golden pineapple, red strawberries, raspberries, red cherries, apples, and peaches.
This piece I believe had a combination of expert workmanship. Small intricate needlepoint work, maybe petit point work, took a lot of time to create this beauty!!(Hoping my photos will help you determine how this was made.) WOULD LOOK EXQUISITE ON YOUR DINING ROOM TABLE!!
MEASURES: 42 inches L X 12-1/2 inches W. A lot of intricate stitches went into this piece. You can see the *depth* they tried to accomplish in the way they sewn the piece. You can see and feel the accentuated way that each piece of fruit, and even background simply *pops out* at you. So many stitches, they even put in *over-stitches* on the fruit to make it appear to shine as a highlight in color, like real fruit would look. They even used threading of gold and copper for added shine and dimension. You can see the intricate way they sewn these grapes to create that added texture and highlights!
GORGEOUS! Beautiful piece of linen! PERFECT CONDITION!! Can find nothing wrong with this lovely!! You will definately treasure owning this runner!! The backing is a nice black sheen, could be silk (?)or mixed with cotton. Either way is a quality material used for the backing. Finished off in a nice rolled edge and stitched tight so this lovely will not unravel. Perfect sewing!!
Wonderful pair of vintage cotton/linen pillowcases in EXCELLENT condition. Peach embroidery is nicely hand done around the entire edge. MEASURES: 21"W X 29-1/2"L. Lovely pattern of circles around the center as a focal point. Was stored away from light, no tears or stains. (Found only one *tiny pin-dot* mark and the previous owner tried sewing a few loose crocheted pieces,(unfortunately in the wrong colors. That can be easily remedied.) Otherwise, the cases are nice and WHITE/WHITE. Would look nice to your antique bedroom.
Beautifully, artistically crocheted small coverlet designed in lovely ROSES,ROSES. This is indeed an incredible find. GREAT CONDITION, found this stored away, MEASURES: 24 inches X 20-1/2 inches.
Beautiful peach or coral color. The large ROSE design is a soft off-white. Nice weighted material, the workmanship done correctly that the piece lays flat on any surface without any pulling in the material. The workmanship is intricate and done skillfully.
Could have many uses. Would look wonderful laying on the head of your bed as a lovely coverlet. Would add to the vintge look. Could be a coverlet on your sofa, your rocking chair, could be made into a lovely, large pillow, uses as a small tablecloth, a dresser scarf. You could even frame this and it would make a lovely wall hanging.
You would be hard-pressed on finding a better one than this....
Thank you for visiting DOGWOOD TRAIL ANTIQUES! :O)
Great vintage 1950s finely hand embroidered kitchen linen runner. This little gem has some slight issues - BUT those truly override the way this was beautifully made. Nicely detailed, young SOUTHERN BELL, farmer girl or pioneer girl picking apples from an apple tree - (or are they CHERRIES ?.) Stitching all tight and intact, colors still very vivid. No tears, nor any holes. The coloring throughout this piece certainly compliments one another. LARGE 40"L x 16-1/2"W. All edges are nicely stitched so you need not worry about unraveling. It does have some spots - mostly in the middle of the cloth and one in the lower right by one of the girls. (Have not tried to soak this, will leave that up to the new owner.)Or you can use this as a cutter, make a pillow, or frame in a picture. (INTERNATIONAL SALES WELCOME!) Thank you for visiting DOGWOOD TRAIL ANTIQUES. :o)
