3731-GO

Fenton Green Opalescent Hobnail 10" DC Footed Bowl

Fenton made green opalescent hobnail during 3 time periods, 1940-41, 1952-54 and 1959-1961. However, only during the last period was this 10" footed bowl manufactured, hence its emerald green name. As the photos show, the green has a slight yellow cast; perhaps the color of this metal was difficult to control. It is in mint condition and would be an excellent addition to a Fenton collection. It will be shipped insured and double-boxed. Reference: Walk, John. 2001. Fenton Glass Compendium 1940-1970. Schiffer Publishing. pp. 105-110.

M-2 Artillery Compass

The M-2 compass was used by the US military to direct artillery fire and orienteering. The compass is the military version of the Brunton Pocket Transit and was originally issued in the case, carrying, M-19. The case is also embossed with D-82645; neither the metal snap is nor the belt loops are present and the leather a little dry. The compass is made of cast aluminum and, excepting the magnetic needle and needle pivot, other non-magnetic materials. Scale markings are in mils: 6400 for azimuth and 2400 mils for angle of site (1200 mils each way). There are two bubble levels under the glass cover and the needle pivots on agate housed in a jewel housing. The needle lifts off and locked away from its pivot point when the cover is closed. A mirror with an etched black line and sight hole is located in the instruments cover. Front and rear sights have pivoting tips to allow precise sighting. This piece is in great shape: mirror and etched line, cover glass, interior marking, all moving parts work, compass needle is raised, locked and lowered as advertised, bubble levels clear. The identification plate riveted to the exterior of the mirror cover is missing and exterior finish has ware as shown in the photos. Considering this is a historical item, perfectly suited for immediate use (probably orienteering rather than calling in artillery fire, but...)and a new Brunton ComPro (composition body) or Conv Pocket (aluminum body)run about $350 to $480, this piece at $250 ought to sell fast. It has a ton of patina and character and is really a great piece for us people who like moving things we carry and use in the outdoors! Although I listed Brunton as the manufacturer, I do not this is true. It would have been manufactured under U S Gov't contract and Burnton would have been the obvious choice.

Fenton Cranberry Opalescent Hobnail 8" DC Vase

Outstanding Fenton Cranberry Opalescent Hobnail 8" double-crimp vase in mint condition. The attached oval, blue and silver Fenton sticker indicates this vase was made between 1953 and 1957. The vase is about 8" high (the same Fenton item number may also be found being 8 1/2" high), 7 1/2" between the inside crimps and 9 1/4" between the outside crimps. As shown in a photo, there are a couple pieces of the iron crimping tool remaining in two crimps, adding personality and uniqueness to the piece. The composition and size, combined with color and opalescent pattern lends a great presence to the piece. A beautiful vase any Fenton collector would be proud to display. The vase will be shipped double-boxed and insured.

Blown three mold decanter Keene GIII-16

A mint example of a Keene blown three mold 1 pint decanter in pattern GIII-16 with a Type VII A rayed base. Color is olive green/olive yellow. The pattern is strong and there are some air bubbles in the glass. A very nice example of the blown three-mold technique and era of United States history. Crown Publishers, New York. p. 255, line drawing-Plate 93; p 261, Base patterns-Plate 100; p. 296 Pattern GIII-16; p. 277 Paragraph 3; Illustration-Plate 103, #4.

Daisy and Button Original Formula Carnival Glass Basket

Fenton reissued carnival glass with the "original formula" amethyst in 1970 and saw the first use of the oval Fenton logo. This mint-condition basket was only made in 1982, marked with this logo and the number "8", indicating it was made in the 1980's. The foot design is alternating small and large scallops with rays on the underside. The carnival finish is stunning on this piece: purples, greens, blues golden hues (and more) over amethyst base glass. Approximate dimensions are (in inches):6 1/2 long, 2 1/2 wide and 4 high.

Moonlight NO.1 B.A.S.S. Collector Edition 2001

The plug is a reproduction of the Moonlight Bait Co. "Moonlight No. 1, sponsored by B.A.S.S. in its Collector Edition of 2001. Probably, you and I both wish the plug was an early 1900's product but it is a nice, unused, mint-condition plug in the original, reproduction box and papers. It really does glow in the dark after exposure to "recharge" the luminous paint!

DIETZ Embossed Clear Lantern Globe

This clear glass lantern globe is marked with DIETZ and the number 5 enclosed in an oval, all raised above the globes' surface. Dimensions are approximately 4 3/4 inches tall, 3 1/4 inches and 3 5/16 inches diameter at each end. The body is about 4 1/2inches at its widest part. The globe was made in a 2-piece mould with each rim ground flat. There are some chips on each rim and a few air bubbles in the glass. The chips do not extend very far below the rim and appear to me (a non-lantern globe expert)acceptable and what one would expect as normal on a new lantern globe. The globe was found in the store room of a hardware that closed. Other Dietz globes, found next to this globe, were in the manufactures shipping box had a date of 1943 on the box.

Dietz "Little Wizard" Lantern Gloge

An unused, clear glass lantern globe with a oval silver, gold and red foil label affixed, reading Made in USA DIETZ Genuine. One end, with ribbing near the base is about 3 1/4 inches in diameter with the rim having a little roughness due to mould fit and contact. The other end is about 2 3/4 inches in diameter, is fire-polished and completely smooth. The globe is about 4 inches tall and at the widest diameter of the body. As there are no mould lines on the body, it appears the globe was slip-moulded. The globe was found in the manufactures box, which stated the globes were for the Little Wizard lantern: the shipping date on the box was 1942.

USQMC Galvanized Dipper

The galvanized, riveted and soldered steel dipper is stamped with: U.S,Q.M.C. A.C. & F. Co. JEFF. IND. 55. The quartermaster Corps we know is U.S,Q.M.C. while I believe A.C. & F. Co. stands for the American Car and Foundry Co. A.C. & F. Co. and/or its subsidiaries made material, tanks, etc during WW I and WW II for the USA. The dipper holds 54 ounces of water and is about 14 inches from rim to the hook at the end of the handle. It is unused and still has some solder flux and preservative on its surface. A well-preserved piece of history.

Iris & Herringbone Celing Light Shade

I did not know Iris & Herringbone had a lamp shaded included in the pattern. However, while cleaning this shade up, the Pattern Recognition Software went off and I wondered: What if it was Iris and Herringbone? Sure enough, it is listed in ---- book; also comes in 3 other colors. So, here is an interesting collector item that may decorate a boys' nursery or young mans' room. It may be that it was never hung on a light fixture, but I cannot be certain of such history. It is in great shape, no chips, loss of color, etc that I can find. It has a wavy outline with scallops on the edge, is 11 3/4 inches in diameter and about 4 inches deep.
