A 8 inch LaSa vase by Weller. The LaSa line was created in 1920 to showcase Wellers expertise with metallic lustres. The vase has 3 trees painted over the multi-colored iridescent background. The words; "Weller Lasa" are etched into the glaze at the base of the vase. The vase is in overall good condition. The only defects are one 2" hairline crack at the top,it does not go all the way through and is only visible on the inside of the vase. There is also some paint loss in the leaves of the trees as shown in pic.#6. This does not distract from the beauty or rarity of this Weller vase, but as always, is reflected in the price.
This Carnival glass bowl is the "Floral Ivy" pattern in marigold. It is 2 1/2 inches deep and 9 1/2 inches across the top with a ruffled edge. There are no chips or cracks, only a few small wear spots in the lustre. Please ask questions as the glass would not photograph well.
This circa 1870's majolica strawberry server is shaped like a lily pad. It originally had flower shaped sugar-sifting and cream ladles (bowls) that sat on the "lilys" on both nsides of the handles but unfortunately they are missing. The strawberry dish is in good condition for its age. It has overall crazing, a hairline crack in the stem handle that does not go all the way through, and one spot on the edge where the glaze is missing but this is not a chip. The bottom edge also has spots where the glaze has worn off. This piece is not marked (or not visibly) but while doing my research I found 2 absolutely identical with the George Jones impressed monogram so I have attributed this to him. The dish is exactly like the one pictured in the 2001 Millers Antiques price guide on page 250.
This is a tremendous cherry amber necklace. The color of the amber is a beautiful, deep, cherry red. The necklace has 27 heavily faceted, elliptical beads. The largest bead in the center is 6 1/2 cm. (1/4") in diameter and 3 1/2cm. long and then descending in size to the smallest bead being 2cm. in diameter and 1cm. long. The beads are strung on flat silver chain with a silver bow clasp. The necklace is 16 1/2 inches end to end. Pictures just cannot show how trully magnificent the cherry amber is. The facets send the light everywhere and it seems to glow. Its sure to turn heads! The necklace is in very good condition with no damage. The necklace is not marked but has been tested to be sure it is amber.
This necklace and earring set always makes me think of sugar plums! The two strand necklace is composed of graduated dark pink beads covered with tiny glass globules named "ballottini". They are not glued but are molten (or fired)upon the surface of the bead. It looks as if it was dipped in sugar! Interspersed with the ballottini beads are purple aurora borealis and chunky lavender satin glass beads.Between each large bead are diamond shaped, red or lavender crystals accented with small gold beads. The matching clip-on earrings are set with a purple & red "a.b." rhinestones and 2 ballonttini beads that are glued on to the gold metal.
The necklace is adjustable with a hook clasp. It measures 18 inches (from clasp to end bead). The earrings are 1"x1" with a clip-on back.
Although the necklace is not marked the exquisite beads can be attributed to the "Gablonz" (Czech or Bohemian) beadmakers and was made in the 1950's.It is a magnificent example of their bead craftmanship!
It is in almost new condition for its age. The only visible flaw is some tarnish under the end caps of the ballottini beads.
This necklace illustrates the labor intensive twisting and weaving of fine wire for which the Hobe company was famous. It consists of small rounded amber beads on hand-worked wire chain with clusters of hand wired glass? tube beads in groups of four. It measures 28 inches from end to end.It is adjustable with a simple hook clasp. The necklace has never been worn and still has its original "Hobe" hang tag with the design? number: RJ12 ML. I of course do not wish to deceive you, and I am almost certain that the round beads are amber because of there irregularities and inclusions, but because of their size I cannot do my usual tests. I have priced the necklace so that it won't matter what its made of and someone might get a great buy!
This enamel Leopard looks ferocious and ready to leap! The brooch measures 2 1/2 inches long & 1 inch wide. It is made of enamel over gold metal with a rhinestone studded collar and green rhinestone eye. It is not marked but is very realistic and good quality. It is in very good condition except there is a little spot of white showing on his rear paw. I can't tell if its a chip or just that the enamel didn't cover there. Regardless, it is not noticable when he's leaping off your lapel!
These 1920's clips or fasteners are highly detailed flowers of cherry red Celluloid set with a dark blue rhinestone center and a floral square to hide the fastener. Each flower has two metal loops for sewing onto the garment and a center metal hook closure. Each flower is 1 1/4 inches in diameter and the clip fastened measures 2 3/4 inches wide. They are in good condition for their age. The metal could use a polish and one flower has white glue residue around the rhinestone. This could be original glue that has gotten warm because I have owned (and loved)these for over 25 years and never noticed. On the back side they have an indentation with a pin hole that must have been part of the molding process. These are so lovely you'll want to design a piece to showcase them. The pictures show only 1 set but you are buying a pair.
This is a red Bakelite brooch from the art deco period. It has a half inch round ball in the center with a round shaft that ends in arrow points. It measures 2 3/4 inches long. It has a C clasp and a "tube" hinge that dates it to that era. It is is very good condition, with no flaws. A good example of 1920's Bakelite!
This brooch has round, red plastic flower buds set with rhinestones (they remind me of eyes)and red plastic leaves, all prong set on silver-tone metal to form a beautiful floral spray. It measures 2 inches at the widest part and 2 1/4 inches long. It is in like new condition with no signs of wear. It is signed "Kramer".
This is a "pearfect" Pear brooch and earring set. The soft matte gold-plated pear brooch measures 1 3/4 inches tall & 1 1/4 inches at the widest part. The matching clip-on pear earrings are an inch long & 1/2 inch wide. These "pearfect" jewels were made by the B.S.K. jewelry company circa 1950's and all are signed. They are in excellent condition with no signs of wear! (There is a picture of this set on page 43 of "Signed Beauties of Costume jewelry, vol.2)
This 1930's era necklace consists of 7 stylized Lucite leaves with amber-colored Bakelite (tested positive)beads on a brass chain. The center leaf has a white pot-metal flower and 2 beads wired to the flower. The necklace measures 16 inches, end to end. The center leaf has a split where the flower is riveted on and the beads seem crudely wired on (as found), but these flaws are not noticable. It is very unique and 1930ish! I just noticed in the close-up pic of the flower there are some pink spots these are only polish that stuck in the crevices and has been removed!
This amber brooch has a one inch beveled amber diamond at the center surrounded by eight heavily faceted amber beads. The beads are attached to the gold? metal frame by small posts imbedded in the amber. As you can see in picture #2 the pinback has been resoldered to the frame. The brooch is 1 1/2 inches wide & 1 1/2 inches long. The amber was hard to photograph because it is so faceted and although it appears orange it is a deep honey color. In spite of the solder this is a very high quality amber brooch, sure to please discerning amber collectors!
When I purchased these they were labeled as "Eskimo Ivory", when I inquired they explained that they were made of walrus tusk instead of elephant tusk. The ivory is carved into pointy headed, smiling faces that measure 1 inch long and 1/2 inch wide. The ivory is suspended from gold? metal posts for pierced ears. The happy, smiley faces are supposedly an Eskimo symbol for good fortune. These earrings make you smile just to look at them!
This bangle is made of tortiseshell colored Lucite with a squared line design, that goes araund the bracelet on top and bottom. The Lucite is a 1/4 inch thick with an opening that is 2 1/2 inches wide. The matching pierced earrings are domed squares 3/4 of an inch long and 7/8 of an inch wide with metal posts. The bangle bracelet still has its original tag that reads: "Made in Western Germany". The earrings are not marked.
This cuff has domed silver ovals of graduating size. The largest in the center is 1 1/2 inches long and the smallest on the ends is 1 inch. The cuff is 5 inches in diameter with a 1 1/2 inch opening. It is signed: 925,which is the silver content, Mexico, and TS-79, which means it was made in the Taxco silver shop in 1979. It has a few dings in the silver but they are not noticiable. It looks great on!
This is a size 6, beautifully wrought silver and turquoise ring. It has an oval 1/2 x 1/4 inch turquoise stone of good color. I have owned this ring since the early '70's so I know its that old. It is marked as you can see in the picture and I beleive this is the mark of Hector Aquilar, a Mexican silversmith, but I can't say for certain.
This very simple silver ring has a 3/4 x 1/2 inch stone of Sodalite (or its also called Lazurite, a form of Lapis lazuli)set in silver. It is a size 5. It is marked: Taxco Mexico 925, the intials JZM and a makers mark that I do not recognize.
This pendant has a 3/4 x 1/2 Lapis lazuli stone, with a scrolled silver design. It is on a (very long) 24 inch, "twisted butterfly" style chain that is marked 925 on the clasp. The pendant is marked: Mexico, TV-76 and 9c53VA.
This silver lizard brooch looks great on almost everything! Its 2 1/2 inches long and 1 inch wide. It is simply marked "925" (Mexican sterling silver mark). It has one ding near his left front leg otherwise he's ready to slither up your lapel!
