This beautiful bone china collector figurine, Autumn Breezes was made in England by Royal Doulton circa 1955-71. Also marked on the bottom under the Royal Doulton Stamp is the name Autumn Breezes / Copr 1939 / Doulton & Co.Limited / HN2147 with the initials FW. John Doulton founded Doulton Lambeth pottery in 1815 with John Watts. The factory was a tiny pottery located in Lambeth near London, England. They produced salt glazed utilitarian items and pitchers, plain figural bottles, and stoneware items. After John Watts retired from the company, John Doulton began experimenting with a more decorative pottery line. Many glazes and decorative effects were developed including faience, impasto, silicon, carrara, marqueterie, chine, and rouge flambe. The factory operated in Lambeth until 1956. In 1878, Sir Henry Doulton purchased Pinder, Bourne and Company of Burslem. Queen Victoria knighted Henry Doulton in 1887 for his innovations in the ceramic art. In 1882, the company became Doulton and Company, Ltd. In 1882, a second factory was built in Burslem which still continues to produce the famous figurines, jugs, and table wares. It added porcelain production and earthenware production to its offerings in 1884. Also in 1884, Doulton added decorated porcelain to the other production lines. Doulton figures were made at the Burslem plants from 1890 until 1978. Very elegant, she holding onto her hat with one hand while the other is tucked into her muff and her dress is flowing into the breeze. Design by Leslie Harradine in colors of black and white with a soft cream accent throughout, she is in very good + condition, without chips, cracks, crazing or fleabites and she measures 7 1/2 inches tall, 4 1/2 inches wide and 5 1/4 inches deep. This lovely amethyst center handled cookie/serving tray with a gold floral banding around the rim has no makers mark. Oval in shape their is also a decoration painted on the handle. I was really hoping to find some information on the maker and pattern because this is the first oval tray I have come across and with the color amethyst also! If anyone knows the maker I would greatly appreciate an email. This very cool elongated heart shaped pottery ashtray is marked on the bottom: Royal Haeger / #135 / USA. David H. Haeger came to the United States from Germany, founding a small Illionois company in 1871 that took the original name of the Dundee Brickyard for the bricks and tile they made to rebuild Chicago after the great fire as well as other midwestern cities and towns. However, David Haeger and his son Edmund had aspirations to rise beyond brickmaking and into a leadership position in the design and production of art pottery in the U.S. David Haeger died in 1900, but Edmund continued experimenting with ever more sophisticated designs and glazes, changing the name of the company to Haeger Potteries and is still in business today. In 2 tone colors of that retro orange and almost red center glazed interior with the outside being all orange on three tiny legs this ashtray makes a nice showing on any table. In good condition, with a small chip on the underside corner and it does have 2 small black dots in the upper right side which I have shown in my pictures and it measures 1 1/2 inches high, 12 inches long and 7 1/2 inches wide. This Goebel Collectors Club piece In the Spotlight was designed by artist Gerhard Skrobek in 1983 and is marked: Limited Edition Series / Under The Big Top / In The Spotlight by Gerhard Skrobek / Number 13508 / Goebel 1983 / USA / Goebel Collectors' Club on the bottom with the initials JK and on the back base behind his feet, the piece is signed Skrobek. The German, Goebel company was founded in 1871 by Franz Detleff Goebel and his son, William. Together, the two committed themselves to being innovative producers of fine porcelain. The company soon expanded to make dinnerware pieces and figurines.
