Butter or cheese dish with domed lid
I don't know the manufacturer of this cut crystal piece, but it's very attractive. 6.5 inches wide by 5 inches tall, the plate has a sunburst design on the center and scalloped edge (both on underside). The lid, which fits securely with no 'wiggle', has a wheel-cut clover and daisy design, plus matching scallops and a six-sided faceted knob. Another item that has apparently never been used; there are no utensil marks and both pieces appear to be in pristine, original condition. |

Stuart Abelman has been producing art glass since the 1970's. As an art glass studio, Abelman Art Glass continues to produce Tiffany and Art Nouveau-inspired glass and, as well,produce items for television and movies, such as Star Trek and recently the Showtime series Huff. David Atkinson is possibly better known as the maker of Zero Gravity art glass marbles, using dichroic glass, but PW293 is an example of his early work from 1979.

Rick Ayotte specialized originally in bird portrayals and all our Ayotte weights feature birds (NOTE: sorry, only one weight left!). His birds are known for their realistic feathers and his bouquets are especially fascinating for thei detailed reproduction of leaf and fruit surfaces.
PW427 is a beautiful fully-three-dimensional winter scene with two tufted titmice with holly branches and berries on snowy ground. 3.5 x 2.25 (magnum-sized) in mint condition. Signed and dated by the artist. Limited edition of no more than 50. Absolutely stunning, these cheerful little birds are enchanting. |

Father-and-son team of Ray and Bob Banford operate out of New Jersey. Specializing originally in reproductions of old French paperweights, they became the first after Charles Kaziun to make weights by using the glass-blower's lamp. Bob specializes in flowers, bumblebees, dragonflies and salamanders.
This paperweight features red flowers & green leaves and stems over blue ground. Six side and one top facet with side-cut grooves up from the bottom. Bob Banford ID cane (B on white cane with blue ring). 3 inches x 2.25 in mint condition. |

Red iris bouquet with two side flowers on clear ground by Ray Banford, featuring a basket design cut by Ed Poore, probably the world's greatest glass cutter. 3 inches by 2.625, with a signature B cane in black on white. There is a slight flaw in the crystal where two facets have been slightly dinged - gahhh! It could make you cry. However, I'm pricing accordingly and as you can see in the photos, you really have to be looking for the damage to find it. The final photo shwos how beautifully the crystal catches the light. Produced in 1987. |

American Paperweight Co., Col A. Pope c. 1900
Col. Albert A. Pope, known as the "Father of bicycles" - not for inventing them but for mass-marketing them under the brand name Columbia through Pope Manufacturing. He was also a pioneer in the improvement of roads, as the paperweight proclaims, mainly to improve the market for his bicycles. The paperweight is made by American Paperweight Company of Pittsburgh, PA, probably between 1892 and 1909, when Col. Pope passed away, following the financial failure of his automobile company, Pope Motor Carriage Company. Good, clearly reproduced photograph of Pope, transfer-fired on back. Excellent gift for the antique bicycle enthusiast. Some wear - a few light scratches on the surface, one small chip on the underside. See also PW 415.

Probable American Paperweight Company
I note that this is PROBABLY an American Paperweight Company paperweight, since I can't quite make out the manufacturer's name - it's so near the edge of the image that it's almost gone. However, this weight is certainly in the same style as our other Col. A. Pope paperweight (PW272) with the same text but a younger picture of Col. Pope. The weight has lived a hard life, though, with many edge nicks and some scratches, so I'm pricing it less. The last photo shows PW415 and PW272 side by side for your comparison. |

This 3.375 inch diameter paperweight has an English Hobnail underside, which looks very sharp from above, and a Knights of Pythias shield centered on a cream-colored background. The underside of the paperweight is brass, marked Pat'd. Aug. 18, 1909. The glass is in good condition, few scratches, but the background is a bit fly-specked. |

Frosted paperweight in shape of a decorated egg, with 1980 featured on the front. Goebel put these out annually with a limited production in 1980 of 15000 worldwide. Serial #241-80-52. In mint condition, we also have the original box (a bit battered) and the original insert from Goebel. The bottom of the egg is etched Goebel 1979. It stands 2.75 inches tall and 2.25 inches wide. |
