ARTIST PETER MAX (Born: 1937)
German born American artist, Peter Max is best known for his fantastically colorful images and exciting exuberant style. Pop artist Max, like his contemporary Andy Warhol, had created his own artistic force with iconic figures and has captured the faces of the Statue of Liberty, the Mona Lisa, Mick Jagger and George Washington in his one of a king Technicolor style. This acclaimed artist’s work is also held in prestigious museum collections around the world.
Born in Berlin, Peter lived in China, as a child and traveled to India, the continent of Africa, and Israel and Paris, until his family moved to the U.S. Trained at the Art Students League, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Arts in New York. When he left art school in the 1960s he began producing, "cosmic imagery" that catapulted him to prominence and garnered him the cover story in Life magazine.
Max is noted for his surging graphic designs in bright, vibrating colors periodically influenced by commercial arts and reminiscent of art nouveau while incorporating psychedelic colors in floral and celestial motifs. Max is as passionate, creative and prolific artist who has worked with acrylics, oils, water colors, pastels, charcoal, etchings, engravings, lithographs, serigraphs, silk screens, sculpture and computer graphics. Max's Cosmic '60s art, with its transcendental Pop imagery captured the imagination of an entire generation and catapulted the young artist to fame and fortune.
Max is a painter for four former U.S. Presidents Carter, Ford, Bush and Reagan and created posters for Bill Clinton's inauguration. He was later invited to the White House to paint the signing of the Peace Accord.

Salvador Dali was born Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí y Domenech in Figueras, Spain, on May 11, 1904. Spanish painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and designer, Dali passed through phases of Cubism, Futurism and Metaphysical painting, he joined the Surrealists in 1929 and his talent for self-publicity rapidly made him the most famous representative of the movement. Salvador Dali is considered as the greatest artist of the surrealist art movement and one of the greatest masters of art of the twentieth century.
Salvador Dali was born as the son of a prestigious notary in the small town of Figuera in Northern Spain. His talent as an artist showed at an early age and Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali received his first drawing lessons when he was ten years old. In 1928 Dali went to Paris where he met the Spanish painters Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro. He established himself as the principal figure of a group of surrealist artists grouped around Andre Breton. By 1929 Dali had found his personal style that should make him famous - the world of the unconscious that is recalled during our dreams. The surrealist theory is based on the theories of the psychologist Dr. Sigmund Freud. Recurring images of burning giraffes and melting watches became the artist's surrealist trademarks. His great craftsmanship allowed him to execute his paintings in a nearly photo realistic style.
His paintings employed a meticulous academic technique that was contradicted by the unreal `dream' space he depicted and by the strangely hallucinatory characters of his imagery. He described his pictures as `hand-painted dream photographs' . Apart from painting, Dalí's output included sculpture, book illustration, jewelry design, and theatre works. In collaboration with the director Luis Buñuel he also made the first Surrealist films, Un Chien Andalou in 1929 and L'Age d'or. He contributed a dream sequence to Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound in 1945.
He moved to the USA in 1940 and remained there until 1955. During this time he devoted himself largely to self-publicity; his paintings were often on religious themes such as The Crucifixion of St John of the Cross, Glasgow Art Gallery, 1951. In 1958 the artist began his series of large sized history paintings. He painted one monumental painting every year during the summer months in Lligat. The most famous one, The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, can be seen at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg in Florida. It is breath- taking.
The artist's late art works combine more than ever his perfect and meticulous painting technique with his fantastic and limitless imaginations. The Salvador Dalí Museum in Cleveland was inaugurated in 1971, and the Dalinian Holographic Room opened at M. Knoedler and Co., New York, in 1973. In 1980 a major Dalí retrospective was held at the Musée National d?Art Moderne, Centre Georges Pompidou, in Paris, and his work was exhibited at the Tate Gallery, London. ARTIST PETER MAX (Born: 1937)
German born American artist, Peter Max is best known for his fantastically colorful images and exciting exuberant style. Pop artist Max, like his contemporary Andy Warhol, had created his own artistic force with iconic figures and has captured the faces of the Statue of Liberty, the Mona Lisa, Mick Jagger and George Washington in his one of a king Technicolor style. This acclaimed artist?s work is also held in prestigious museum collections around the world.
Born in Berlin, Peter lived in China, as a child and traveled to India, Africa, and Israel and Paris, until his family moved to the U.S. Trained at the Art Students League, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Arts in New York. When he left art school in the 1960s he began producing, "cosmic imagery? that catapulted him to prominence and garnered him the cover story in Life magazine.
Max is noted for his surging graphic designs in bright, vibrating colors while incorporating psychedelic and celestial motifs. Max is a creative and prolific artist who has worked with acrylics, oils, water colors, pastels, charcoal, etchings, engravings, lithographs, serigraphs, silk screens, sculpture and graphics. Max's Cosmic '60s art Pop imagery captured the imagination of an entire generation and catapulted the young artist to fame and fortune. Max is a painter for four former U.S. Presidents Carter, Ford, Bush and Reagan and created posters for Bill Clinton's inauguration.

ARTIST INFORMATION: Marc Chagall (1887-1985)
Marc Chagall is recognized as one of the most significant and critically acclaimed artists of the 20th century. Chagall is a Russian-born French painter, born July 7, 1887 in Russia. In 1923, he moved to France, where he spent the rest of his life, except for a period of residence in the USA. During the 1930s, he traveled to Palestine and Europe. During World War II, Chagall fled to the United States. The Museum of Modern Art, New York, gave him a retrospective in 1946 that was an enormous success.
He settled in France and traveled widely in association with large-scale commissions including a ceiling for the Paris Opera, murals for the Metropolitan Opera. He created a stunning plethora of prints. Exhibitions of the artists work from 1967 to 1977 was held at the Museum du Louvre, Paris, in 1977. Chagall's unique distinctive use of form, shape and color is influenced from Russian expressionism and French cubism. Chagall?s works are highly sought after by museums and art collectors worldwide.

ROMERO BRITTO (Born: 1963 Brazil)
Britto as a youth began painting on bits of cardboard. His family encouraged his developing artistic talents early on. Later Britto would travel to Europe and found success in Europe. Intrigued by the works of American Pop Artists, and popular culture brought Britto to the United States. Britto settled in Miami, Florida in the late 1980?s. Here, the diverse cultural environment and tropical beauty reminded him of his native Brazil.
The distinctive neo-pop style of Romero Britto has made a significant impression on the world of art. Britto is sometimes compared to Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and other contemporaries. He combines the artistic techniques of Pop Art with the intricate compositional qualities of Cubism.

HENRI MATISSE (1869-1954)
Matisse is often regarded as the most important French painter of the 20th century. As a master of supreme decoration and expressive use of color, his visionary experiments into different styles of painting from his impressionistic domestic and figurative subjects to his abstract cut-outs changed our perception of the world. Early in his career, Matisse was viewed as a Fauvist. His work gravitated to the beautiful and his celebration of bright colors reached its peak in 1917 when he began to spend time on the French Riviera at Nice and Venice.

SALVADOR DALI (1904-1989)
Salvador Dali was born Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí y Domenech in Spain, on May 11, 1904. Spanish painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and designer, Dali passed through phases of Cubism, Futurism and Metaphysical painting, he joined the Surrealists in 1929 and his talent for self-publicity rapidly made him the most famous representative of the movement. Salvador Dali is considered as the greatest artist of the surrealist art movement and one of the greatest masters of art of the twentieth century. Born as the son of a prestigious notary in the in Northern Spain. His talent as an artist showed at an early age. In 1928 Dali went to Paris where he met the Spanish painters Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro. He established himself as the principal figure of a group of surrealist artists grouped around Andre Breton. By 1929 Dali had found his personal style that would make him famous - the world of the unconscious and dreams. Surrealist theory is based on theories of Dr. Sigmund Freud. Recurring images of burning giraffes and melting watches became the artist's surrealist trademarks.
His paintings employed a meticulous academic technique that was contradicted by the unreal `dream' space he depicted and by the strangely hallucinatory characters of his imagery. He moved to the USA in 1940. During this time he devoted himself to self-publicity; his paintings were often on religious themes such as The Crucifixion of St John of the Cross, Glasgow Art Gallery, In 1958 the artist began his series of large sized history paintings. He painted one monumental painting every year during the summer months in Lligat. The most famous one, The Discovery of America, can be seen at the Dali Museum.

SALVADOR DALI (1904-1989)
Salvador Dali was born Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí y Domenech in Figueras, Spain, on May 11, 1904. Spanish painter, sculptor, graphic artist, and designer, Dali passed through phases of Cubism, Futurism and Metaphysical painting, he joined the Surrealists in 1929 and his talent for self-publicity rapidly made him the most famous representative of the movement. Salvador Dali is considered as the greatest artist of the surrealist art movement and one of the greatest masters of art of the twentieth century.
Salvador Dali was born as the son of a prestigious notary in the small town of Figuera in Northern Spain. His talent as an artist showed at an early age and Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dali received his first drawing lessons when he was ten years old. In 1928 Dali went to Paris where he met the Spanish painters Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro. He established himself as the principal figure of a group of surrealist artists grouped around Andre Breton. By 1929 Dali had found his personal style that should make him famous - the world of the unconscious that is recalled during our dreams. The surrealist theory is based on the theories of the psychologist Dr. Sigmund Freud. Recurring images of burning giraffes and melting watches became the artist's surrealist trademarks. His great craftsmanship allowed him to execute his paintings in a nearly photo realistic style.
His paintings employed a meticulous academic technique that was contradicted by the unreal `dream' space he depicted and by the strangely hallucinatory characters of his imagery. He described his pictures as `hand-painted dream photographs' . Apart from painting, Dalí's output included sculpture, book illustration, jewelry design, and theatre works. In collaboration with the director Luis Buñuel he also made the first Surrealist films, Un Chien Andalou in 1929 and L'Age d'or. He contributed a dream sequence to Alfred Hitchcock's Spellbound in 1945.
He moved to the USA in 1940 and remained there until 1955. During this time he devoted himself largely to self-publicity; his paintings were often on religious themes such as The Crucifixion of St John of the Cross, Glasgow Art Gallery, 1951. In 1958 the artist began his series of large sized history paintings. He painted one monumental painting every year during the summer months in Lligat. The most famous one, The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, can be seen at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg in Florida. It is breath-taking.
