Victorian Scottish Agate BraceletBracelet 7-1/4" "Purist" collectors say that "real" Scottish agate jewelry is never hallmarked; hence, precise dating is difficult. After Queen Victoria purchased Balmoral, a castle in Scotland in 1848, Scottish motifs took on a revival from the Gothic period.
Bracelets are a scarce find in Scottish jewelry so I was thrilled to find this one. Set in unmarked sterling with a lovely engraved clasp and a safety chain, the stones are held with a chain link and sterling bobs in-between. There is one repair to the chain in which the bob is missing.
The agates mimic the clasp shape and measure 3/4" by 1/2 inch. Remarkably there is not a chip or crack in the bunch. There are two of the coveted blood stones present, making this bracelet a desirable collectors piece.

Royal Blue Domed Glass Brooch with Bird MotifBrooch 1-3/8" x 1-1/4" We're back from your trip to Europe with some lovely pieces. I knew this was special when I found it, but to be honest I can't find anything like it in any of my reference books other than a hand painted brooch on jet black glass.
This brooch is royal blue domed glass. There is wearing on the top, and when viewed with a loupe it hasn't seemed to affect the terrific bird scene. That being said, I am not sure if this piece is truly hand painted, or if the scene was part of the glass processing. I was attracted to it not just because of its blue coloring, but because I love jewelry with bird motifs.
Set in what looks like a gold frame with a textured rope twist edge that is hammered on and appears to be gold over brass. It has a C-catch. There are some digs in the frame work that is normal for a piece of this age. The pin is sharp, but has a waved shaft. This does not affect it use. Found in Hungary but has no hallmarks.

Mid-Victorian Saphiret Collar PinCollar Pin 1-7/8" This Art Nouveau collar pin was hand made from various metals including what looks like gold wash over brass, yellow gold, sterling, and rolled gold. The four stones are magnificent. There are two mother-of-pearl; one of which is milky in color and the other shows off much more pinks and blues. The two saphiret stones are the finest I have ever seen with a lot of blue. I have had a few saphiret pieces in the past and they are usually sold pretty fast, as they have become highly collectible.
Some background on saphiret glass: From the book "Baubles, Buttons and Beads - The Heritage of Bohemia" by Sibylle Jargstorf, page 139: "Although the original name, saphiret glass, has not survived the years, this was a very popular Gablonz bijouterie glass created in the 19th. century. Its' bi-colored appearance results from gold, which is added as an ingredient to a basic sapphire blue glass. In the second half of the 19th. century, there are references to saphiret glass which fetched higher prices then gold-ruby. It can be found in some of the finest Art Nouveau jewelry."

Marked Chinese Silver Belt with Art Nouveau MotifBelt 35-1/2" Chinese silver began to find its way to American through Chinese immigrants during the 1880s - 1930s periods. Most of the antique jewelry found in the U.S. collectible market today was imported during this period. There is an identical book piece with a different motif in the 2001 Fred Rezazadeh book on Collectible Silver Jewelry.
It appears that like many old silver pieces this originally may have had a gold wash as there are spots on it where a gold tone still appears. The motif is similar to an Art Nouveau floral pattern and it's a nice length at 35-1/2 inches. The book value in 2001 was $175, however, the price of silver have gone up just as gold has. Total weight is 4.7 ounces.

Arts and Crafts Movement Flower Pin of Multi MaterialPin 2-1/4" Wow, is this terrific. I almost made the mistake of listing this as early plastic. While doing my usual once over with my loupe, I found this pin to be made of various materials. The large yellow flower petals are poured glass. A top that is a plastic filament which is topped with a facet stone quarts stigma. The stepals are made of carnelian with more carved quarts beads daggling from them. I am not sure what the small rose is made from, as the resin leaf back covers almost the entire back and prohibits closer investigation. Sorry about the botany class, but with so many materials it was impossible to get away from it. There is no question that this is a one of a kind hand made beauty.

Too Cool Funky 60s Plastic Necklace and EarringsSet This necklace and earring set from the 1960s is just too cool. The beads are all plastic and range from faceted, round, and hand painted zigzags. The small spacers are deep green-blue Aurora Borealis facet beads that make the pink really pop. The necklace is 21" and the drop clips are 2 inches. All pieces are marked Hong Kong. This set came from an estate of a woman who collected bead work for decades and had an eye for what was true art.

Pink Celluloid Demi Parure Adorned with AB StonesDemi Parure This pale pink 60s celluloid set has excellent detail with various floral motif and sparkling Aurora Borealis stones. It's remarkable to find an entire set, and especially in this condition. There is none of the usual pitting to the finish on the hinged bracelet, or verdigris on the chain. The only flaws are the pearl finish has pealed off the necklace drop (which could easily be exchanged with another one), and the back of the necklace and clip earrings need a little cleaning from old body oil (it seems to come right off). Otherwise, it's in excellent condition. This set belonged to the mother of a good friend who is out of the country serving as a missionary. I am helping liquidate some of her things.

Silver Lily Pad Pearl BraceletBracelet 7-1/4" This bracelet is a real beauty. It looks like silver lily pads with faux pearl centers. It is not marked sterling but looks like it, with no signs of wear at the hinges that would indicate plating. It also has a lovely patina. The clasp is marked Yechang but I have been unable to find any information on the maker. Each pad is an inch across, yet it looks delicately feminine. Since my research has left me with a plank, I am pricing this as if it is plated, giving you a chance at a real bargain.

Raised Daisy Petals with Rhinestone Center BraceletBracelet 7-3/4" I remember these sets from my childhood, as my mother had the necklace and earrings that you see every once and a while. This is the first time I've seen a bracelet to the daisy set. To top it off, it doesn't appear that it was ever used. There is paint loss to some of the petals on one of the flowers from years in a jewelry box no doubt, which is why I'm putting the condition at good rather than excellent. This is, of coarse, something that is an easy fix. The flowers themselves are a cream white, and the centers have clear, bright rhinestones. This bracelet is also a little longer than most, which makes it nice for a larger boned woman. [Side Note: If you purchase it at the full newly listed price, I'll get my husband, who is an artist, to touch up the paint for you at no extra charge.] This is a very sweet vintage piece to enjoy this summer.

Modernist Coral BraceletBracelet 8" How nice to find a bracelet to fit a big boned women. It measures eight inches, which is a rarity. The five coral disc beads are held with curled barrel beads giving it a modern appeal. I would estimate this being from the 50s. There is what looks like a natural flaw on the top of one of the beads, otherwise in excellent condition.(Note: This piece was extremely hard to adjust the coloring to match the coral, but I did as best I could.)

Buttons in an Old Tetley Tea TinBotton Lot For some unknown reason my husband brought this home to me years ago when I started this jewelry business. I think he has learned a lot since then. He can at least tell the difference between a button and a pin!
The only thing I know about buttons is from my childhood. My mom had a large tin filled with interesting old pieces. That kept me entertained for hours. Moving during a blizzard in Michigan the thing fell off the back of a truck and as much as I cried to pick them up, my dad didn't think it was a good idea in four foot of snow with no sign of letup in sight. Maybe that's why I hung on to this box for so long.
I haven't counted these, or investigated them, other than stirring them a bit to take photos. There are some Bakelite, leather, crocheted, mother-of-pearl, glass, abalone, and metal to name a few. The tin has seen better days, but would no doubt look much better cleaned up. There is no rust on the lip of the lid, which opens easily. The box measures 6" by 3-3/4" by 3-1/2 inches tall. This will be shipped in a Flat Rate Priority Box.

Austrian Forbidden Fruit Pin in Green and WhitePin 1-7/8" I just love the fruit pieces of costume jewelry, especially the Forbidden Fruit made in Austria in the 1950's. They are really under priced in the reference guides as hard as they are to find, and as high as they sell for. This one is in very good condition with minimal wear to the enameled leaves, and bright lively lime green rhinestones. The grapes are cream colored early plastic. Book value $150.

H. Pomerantz Inc. N.Y. Jelly Belly Bird BroochBrooch This is an original Jelly Belly bird brooch (it came out of a personal collect of an antique jewelry collector) manufactured by H. Pomerantz probably in the late 30's. He measures just over 4-1/2 inches. With rhinestone plumage and a red eye this is a catch for anyone, serious collector as well as lover of the unique and hard to find costume jewelry. The Lucite stone body is slightly loss, but there is no chance of it falling out. This one is in excellent condition, showing the normal signs of wear. Even the pin is as straight as can be.
A little about the designer: Herman Pomerantz produced belt buckles, buttons, and jewelry from the 19th century, possibly as early as the 1890s. The company continued until 1960. He patented several designs during the 1930's, which is no doubt when this piece was made. In the 19th century H. Pomerantz seems to have limited production to belts, buckles, book chains and buttons. Pomerantz did make a great deal of very large Victorian Revival jewelry also during the 1930's. Jewelry with textured backs and Aurora Borealis rhinestones are dated from the 1960's. There are at least 4 signatures: "H. Pomerantz & Co. N.Y.," "H. Pomerantz Inc. N.Y. which is what is on this brooch," H. Pomerantz Co. and just "H. Pomerantz." Some try to date the jewelry by the signatures, but there seems to be no rhyme or reason to their use.
