Vintage Dessert bowl, ADAMS BLUE CALYX WARE #1657. Measures 6" in diameter x 1" high. In good condition with a little crazing on some and hardly any signs of wear. There are no chips or cracks. This lovely pattern consists of a central floral motif with a pretty pink and green decoration. The rim is decorated with a pink motif and a green band along the slightly squared rim. The bowls have an aqua colored overglaze the thickness of which varies from bowl to bowl. The back of each one reads Estb 1657 Adams England Calyx Ware Hand Painted. Soapstone Plate, Handcrafted in Kenya. This 8 1/4" hand-carved plate from Kenya (East Africa) is etched with traditional images; two elephants under a tree. The plate is carved from a light colored stone. It is stained with natural dyes and the designs are carved through the stain showing the light colored stone. This is an example of the kinds of crafts that are made to sell in the markets and for exports. It is a one-of-a-kind item due to each plate being individually made, thus no two are alike. "FOR ORNAMENTAL USE ONLY". There is a paint knick on one edge of the plate. It is signed by the artist (see photos) and has a "Made in Kenya" label on the back. |

Although not marked, this spectacular yellow tiger with black stripes and a red tongue and eyes has the triple wedges on the underside of the base. (See photo). Planter, American Bisque, Puppy With Slipper. This vintage planter is really cute. It's 5 1/2" tall. The brown puppy with the pink cheeks is jumping up on a yellow boot or slipper. This piece is pictured in the American Bisque Giacomini book. CONDITION: Tiny crazing, a manufacturer's glop of glaze on the boot, and a tiny separation in the glaze on the edge of the planter area. There are no chips or cracks and the planter area is clean, indicating no use. This is a real lovely old piece of pottery and has the wedges on the bottom. |
