APPROXIMATE AGE:late 70's, APPROXIMATE SIZE: 3 1/2 in. tall and 2 in. wide. UNIQUE TO THIS ITEM: This is a small Original can only sold in Japan or given on certain transatlantic flights in the mid-to-late 1970's. The can is opened. There is Japanese writing on the the can, & it is 250 ml. One can only, just 2 views to show the Japanese writing... This decidedly unusual plate is in a limited edition of 5000, created in 1988. It is a heartwarming (or creepy, depending on your perception) scene depicting a Community Service holiday visit by the Telephone Pioneers Of America clown troop to a local hospital, convalescent ward or nursing home, as captured by Terry Ward. Hard to tell if the residents are happy or traumatized...@ least 3 in this short - lived & not real popular hard-to-find series. The Pioneers do great work, but maybe this plate is not the best representation? This 1 mint in box w/COA. Great for Clown, Telephone, Philanthropic, Nursing Home, Hospital, Senior & Elderly, Community Service, fear of clowns - coulrophobia mavens, or just plain unique item collectors. Night of the Cutover Louisville Kentucky 1932 Telecommunications John Mogus Pioneers PLATES 1985 The Night of the Cutover: #4 in a 12 plate series (ALL available here on THIS site) . It is numbered in an edition strictly limited to 20,000 plates. The artist, John Mogus depicts the night of November 26, 1932 in the old main telephone exchange, Louisville, Kentucky, when the cutover to dial systems took place. This was an event that would occur in every telephone exchange in the country.
This plate measures 8 1/2 inches and is in mint condition without Original Box or Certificate. No Stand or frame is included.
Endorsed by the Telephone Pioneers of America. Long ago sold out. OP $29.95.
