5372
Handmade cotton crochet bedspread with peacocks and butterflies c1890-1910 96 by 100 inches Large antique cotton hand crocheted lace bedspread with a peacock perched inside an arbor circa about 1890-1910. This beautiful lace spread measures 96 inches wide and is 100 inches long, it will fit a queen or a king bed, the bottom corners have a cutout for the bedposts. The design has a large peacock perched on a stand in the center of a grape arbor surrounded by butterflies, the scalloped edges has flowers inside the scallops. There are 3 small repairs (less than an inch), the spread is otherwise in very good strong condition, I have washed it and dried it outside in our fresh New Hampshire air and sunshine so its ready to use on your bed! This is a substantial, weighty spread, the cotton is very soft and drapey.

Antique crochet lace bedspread or throw with Statue of Liberty c1900-20s 52 by 84 inches Antique hand crochet figural bedspread or throw with the statue of Liberty that reads Liberty for All circa 1900-20s. This spread measures 52 by 84 inches, it will fit a twin bed or work as a cover for a day bed or a throw. The thread feels like a cotton blended with rayon (this was a luxury combination before the 30s and quite pricey), the edges are scalloped with miss Liberty herself standing amid bouquets of beribboned flowers. The piece is in a light beige with some faded areas that can be seen clearly in the pictures, I did wash this piece, but the color variations did not change, the spread is otherwise in very good condition, it is strong, weighty and drapey.

5193
Pair lace bedspreads and bolster covers handmade circa 1900 85 by 92 inches This is a pair of lace bedspreads and bolster covers, handmade circa about 1900. These cream lace bedspreads measure 47 inches wide with a 19 inch ruffled edge on the sides (85 inches total) and are 73 inches long with a 19 in drop (92 inches total) and split corners for the bedposts. The 2 bolster covers measure 24 by 64 with 4 inch wide cluny lace on the ends and more lace as inserts. The centers, top edges and bottoms of the spreads are trimmed with handmade cluny lace hand stitched to the mesh, the seams are also hand stitched. The bedspreads are in excellent condition as are the bolster covers, it looks like the maker fell a bit short of the insert lace so added mesh to fill it in, you can see this in the picture, this will not be noticeable at all if you tuck this part under the pillow or over the top out of sight. I have washed and pressed this set, the lace is strong, I don't think it was ever used much judging by the overall condition of the set.

This white cotton bed spread measures 68 by 74 inches, the design is in a fan shape, it looks like ocean waves, it is signed Laura M. Hosbrouck 1864. There are 2 rough edges and small spots that need to be stitched together, both of these issues can be seen in the pics, the spread is otherwise in good condition, I have washed it. Its quite rare to find a knitted bedspread that has been signed, perhaps it was a gift, or the maker was proud of her accomplishment.

5935
Fabric swatch card for dresses circa 1920s 10 by 16 inches Fabric swatch card circa 1920s. This card measures 10 by 16 inches, the fabrics were by Whitco Fabric guaranteed fast colors, it depicts a little girl and her mother out for a spring walk. there is a cardboard slid inside that has the fabric glued onto it, there would have been a number of fabric swatches glued to different cards that one could slide into the pattern cutout so one could see what their dress would look like in that particular fabric, very clever! I only have the one fabric swatch inside the card. The card has a fair amount of age browning and the fabric also has some dirt on it, there are also 3 tears of the cardboard on the woman cut out and a small piece missing, still its an interesting piece of marketing ephemera.

The purse is entirely hand beaded with cream, gold and silver colored beads, the clasp is gilded metal with a paste diamond like clasp, the lining is a gold silk satin with 2 pockets, there is a label that reads hand made in France and a stamp that reads Tury 10 Rue Royale Paris. The bag has definitely seen use, there are some fairly small lipstick red stains on the bottom of the inside, wear on the clasp and closure though it works fine and I just noticed a pea size hole on the side of the bag on the fold, the outside has general use dirt, the bag is otherwise good and still quite usable, no funky smells.
