In good condition, with some crazing; as with the majority of these Oranges, this one has lost its original cold paint and is now compeletly yellow except for a few flakes of orange color; there are two tight hairlines to the rim, and one chip to a leaf tip.

HANDMADE PERUVIAN CHULUCANA ART POTTERY VASE - SIGNED J. SOSA 11 ins diameter x 9 ins high This stunning large art pottery vase was made at the Chulucanas pottery located on the north coast of Peru. The base color is a very dark brown to black and is decorated in reverse with deep orange dots.
The Chulucanas pottery has been creating unique clay items for centuries. The inhabitants of the town of Chulucana descend from the Tallanes, the ancient pre-Columbian people that inhabited this region. They developed the negative, or reverse technique, ceramics displayed today in some museums under the name of Vicús pottery.
The vase is signed and dated on the base by José Sosa. He began working with pottery in 1975 and continues working today with his wife Rosita. The vase is in very good condition, with one minor rim chip, no cracks.

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN FOLK ART PAINTED WOOD WORK SEWING BOX 13.75 x 11 x 3 This large lovely antique Victorian rectangular work or sewing box is hand decorated in the Folk Art style, the veneered lid having an oval cartouche encircling hand painted flowers on a black ground. The stepped hinged lid is further decorated with gesso (plaster) C-scrolls at each corner enclosing a grain painted ground (painted to simulate burl wood). The sides are also similarily grain painted. The interior is lined in rose pink silk. Dating from the 3rd quarter of the 19th c., this box was not supplied with tools & therefore has no interior fittings {the lose interior fittings shown in image are not original to this box but are a later 20th c. addition}. CONDITION: very good condition, some chipping and age cracks to gesso decoration, a few very minor age cracks to veneered top, hand painted floral decoration in very good condition.

19th C. Paper Mache Trinket Box 3 1/2 x 2 x 3/4 inches A nice masculine Victorian era/19th c. inlaid black paper mache trinket box; top with piano hinge and wood inlaid cartouche. Small boxes like this were usually used to hold ladies hair pins or men's shirt studs; this one was found with shirt studs inside.
Condition: some minor overall crazing to lacquer, very minor abrasions to corners; under magnification & strong light there is a man's name (Bud Rea) and an undecipherable word lightly scratched on top inside cartouche
