Dudson Sprig Pitcher Pewter Lid Classical Jug Antique
This is a victorian Dudson, England pitcher or jug with pewter lid of blue glazed earthenware with an applied white classical design or cherubs with an oak leaf border made in the 1890s. The pitcher or jug measures 6.5 inches high by 5 inches long by 3.75 inches in diameter and is very like Wedgwood jasperware but with a semi gloss finish. This jug, although it has no maker's mark is obviously early Dudson and the quality of the applied designs was especially fine. There is the mark ENGLAND and the initials WB which denote the designer. The pitcher or jug is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. A wonderfully decorative piece.
