Offering Fred Roberts Strawberry sets. All sets are decorated with a hand-painted strawberry and vines design and were made in Japan. The first set is a set of jelly or jam pots. The set consists of 8 pieces including 3 dishes, 3 spoons, a lid that covers all 3 dishes, and a plate to set the jelly pots on. This set is beautiful looking just like it did on the day the set was made except for the spoons. There are no chips or cracks on the jelly pots and plate, but one spoon was glued and the other one has crazing. The largest piece, the bottom dish, is 7 1/4 inches across. The individual jelly dishes are each 4 5/8 inches wide at their widest point. The second set is the Strawberry Vinegar and Oil set. This set is not complete as you can see on the picture-it is missing one top and also the oil cruet has age crazing. The third set is another Vinegar and Oil set, but this one is also not complete. It is missing the oil cruet and mustard pot, The salt and pepper set is great, but the vinegar cruet and dish to hold them are crazed from age. There is one extra top. A great collection start for the Fred Roberts collector!!

The jug is glazed in russet brown with the top half having been dipped in brown slip; the flat reeded handle terminates in an applied Fleur DE Li's. The base bears the incised Doulton Lambeth mark plus an incised decorators mark of ds; [Note: there is no date mark/code on this piece making it a pre 1873 piece.] Condition: given its age the pitcher is in good condition, no cracks but does have numerous rim chips and one glaze flake on moulded decoration [see images]. James Kent Du Barry chintz small cup, which is about 3 inches across, and saucer, which is about 4 3/4 inches across. It's not quite demitasse size in my opinion, but smaller than a normal sized teacup. There is a slight flaw on the interior the cup, which I tried to capture with a picture. The edge of the cup is not perfect, but it's not from wear. Appears to be a manufacturing issue. These flaws are minor and I list them only to be as exact as possible in my description. A really stunning beauty!

Antique Nippon porcelain, as this china was called during the period from the 1890's through the early 1920's, denoted country of origin rather than products from a specific manufacturer.
