Large Antique Chinese Famille Rose Lamp Base, Restored
Large heavy famille rose pattern lamp base, Chinese export porcelain, probably dating round early 20th century. Measures 33.5 cm high and 16 cm diameter at the base (13.1/8 inches by 6.5/16 inches). I'm not sure how this fits together as a lamp, as there is no hole for cord on the base. There is a metal bar through the stem of the lamp, but no provision for wiring at the top, which has a removable plastic cap over where the cord must have once gone. Not sure how it all makes into a light. The lamp has been restored, the central cone section of the lamp having been broken. Base is undamaged, and the top has one small restoration in one scene. These appear to be old restorations, but are not obvious, so the item displays well. In spite of the repairs, it is a beautiful large piece of this very popular design. The images of the damaged areas are in the closeups of the panels.
