Ebony Female Figure - Massim/Trobriand Islands Figure of a girl kneeling. Massim people are from the Trobriand Islands. The Trobriand Islands are an archipelago of several low-lying coral islands situated to the northeast of New Guinea. They are part of Melanesia. The figure is carved from ebony and is weathered with some traces of lime infill. The face is carved in the style of the masters of protruding eyes, small damage to one ear, quite weathered. 20th Century. Size: 12¾ H x 3 W x 2½ D Condition: Good Weight: 2 lbs. Markings: None
Tribal Wooden Figural Box - Philippines Size: 5 H x 3 W x 3½ D Condition: very good Age: Late 20th Century Markings: None Weight: 8½ Oz's. Origin: Philippines: People of the Mountain Province This wooden box resembles a sitting tribal man holding a ring or necklace that surrounds its neck. The 2 inch diameter cover of the box is the head of a man. The surface of the box is stained black. I acquired this box directly from a shop in Pasig City, Philippines. Please note that the figure (box) is black. It appears washed out from the light needed to photograph it.
Melanesian Ancestor Figure - Solomon Islands? My best guess is this is from the Solomon Islands. Although the accents are of a pigment not the usual shell inlays. Size: 11 H x 3½ W x 4 D Condition: very good Weight: approx. 1¾ lbs. A striking and nicely detailed figure.
Carved Figure of an Oceanic Warrior Size: 22 Inches Tall Age: Late 20th Century. Condition: Very Good - There are small splatters of white paint? on the front and back. This can be easily removed, but I believe they are an intentional part of the piece. Weight: 2 lbs. 14 Oz's. The Warrior has a very detailed muscular figure with a tin neck gorget and tin bicep armlets. He has a plaid loincloth. Shipping on this will be Parcel Post as it is over 1 cubic foot with packaging.
Carved Wooden Male Figure - Pacific Rim Size: 8 Inches High - Base is about 1-3/4 Inches across. Weight: 5 Oz's. Condition: Good. Age: Thought to be mid-20th Century He is very unique. The shape is carved and the artist painted in the wonderful details of this man. His mode of dress is detailed as are his features. He even wears a Kris, which is a type of weapon or agricultural tool. Piece is not signed. A very nice piece.
Oceanic Carved Bone Figural Totem Size: 10 Inches Tall. The top pulls out to reveal a blade. The blade is 3 Inches Long. Age: Early to mid 20th Century. It could be earlier. Condition: Good - There is a little chipped bone to right side of the lip of the opening. The totem is comprised of three heads and ending with a beaked bird. Weight: 2 Oz's. A very unusual piece and also very handsome. It would make a very unusual letter opener or an excellent addition to a Tribal Collection. Or just a unique piece for decoration.
