This cast iron has a diagonal and scroll design. It was recovered from a house in New Orleans before Katrina. It has surface rust and old paint remaining, but is physically sound: no cracks or broken off pieces, etc. Approximate dimensions are: outside 16 1/8 in. wide by 24 3/8 high from the peg foot to the top of the arch. Not including the peg foot, the height is 21 3/4 in. I can find no writing or trademark on the piece. Some TLC will restore this to top-notch condition.
This cast iron surround has a fan decoration in each upper corner. It was recovered from a house in New Orleans before Katrina and has surface rust, old paint and caulk remaining, but physically sound: no cracks or broken off pieces, etc. On the top of the back inside frame, there are the numbers 14 and 25 cast into the metal. You can also see one of the old wires used to support the surround on the brick face. Approximate dimensions are: outside 21 1/4 in. wide by 26 3/4 in high and inside the arch 14 3/8 in. wide by 23 5/8 in high. It will take a little work to clean up but has the potential to look really great.
Victorian antique footed coal hod with tole painting. The pictures are not showing how really attractive it is, but it is a really great looking piece if you like antiques. It has 4 fancy brass feet; the body is sheet metal. It has an interior pull out container which holds the coals. Very ornate brass handles on the sides. It is 21.5 tall x 9 wide x 9.5 deep. The exterior has a couple of minor dents; some scracthing and some paint loss, (but not bad for its age); the interior is more scratched up. The lid interior is marked: #115. It doesn't sit quite flat not sure why, the legs look even. I put a round felt tab under one of the legs to balance it properly. Instead of coal, you can stash your kindling wood in it. This is the perfect Victorian or traditional home fireplace accessory and it's not too big so it can fit in a lot of places as a unique furniture accessory! 5/12gcest#

Attractive brass and wrought iron fireplace trivet stand. This is an estate sale item; everything on it looks old except the 3 tiny bolts on bottom which look new; those may have just been added to replace older ones. The brass has some green oxidation on it; the iron has some tinges of rust and wear. It stands 14 tall x 9.5 wide across bottom legs. A very attractive and functional item. 4/11scs
Awesome antique brass coal bucket. Great patina on this and heavy duty! Soddered copper bottom; handle is riveted. Very attractive bucket that stands 10 inches tall x 14.75 long x 9.75 wide. The front top rim edge is cracked; needs to be re-soddered, (not bad just mention it so you know all flaws); and some other age/wear, minor dents on it; two tiny splits on bottom edge of brass. It is a great furniture accessory piece to place near the fireplace or to use as a unique planter. There are some that look like this on the net, but they are not antique. 1/11s#
Nice looking vintage brass coal bucket. It is weighted on the bottom so it will not tip over. Has a ceramic back piece and lions near handle. It is not antique but is not new. Estate sale item; has some oxidation on the brass. Age est:1930's-40's. Has some minor dents, age/wear, but still a great accessory piece. It is perfect for kindling wood, or to display small umbrellas, carnival canes, swords, billy clubs, etc. Or, just as a nice fireplace piece. I would guess it was made in Holland. 2/10groecs
