Antique cast iron Fox Terrier doorstop. Not marked, but Hubley and other companies made them in the 1930's more loss around ear tips and mouth. No new paint shows up under black light, and there are no repairs on it. 2/14
Repainted Vintage Large Cast Iron Metal Doorstop, Flowers In Vase
This is an antique large molded cast iron or cast metal doorstop which was repainted with vibrant colors, net it no longer shows its original paint and coloring. We believe the old door stop dates to the 1920s/1930s period. As one can see from the reverse side, a former owner had spray painted both white and brown paint over the front and backsides of this collectible door stop, likely wanting to hide the paint chipping which these pieces tended to get over time due to age, use, tipping over in the wind, etc. Then later on it was decided to just repaint the topside surface in bright colors to again simulate what the molding to and shape of the piece was depicting....a vase filled with brightly colored flowers (which certainly being sprayed all white and brown would not suggest well). From seeing similar original painted chipped pieces, however, it is clear that this was not repainted following what would have been the original colors. So, while this piece still retains its original shape, weight and use, it is not colored the way it was originally produced. However, as it exists now, it has a lovely, vibrant appearance that would still make it great to use or put on display. Could also be used as a single bookend (book end). Measures about 10 inches in height, 8 inches in width and 3 inches in greatest depth (to the pointed, triangular base). Very nice used condition as shown in images. No visible chips or cracks in the metal on this vintage piece. Please note that while fully painted on the front side, in some spots the prior brown spotting from the earlier spray painting can be seen coming through the later layer of paint. This shows up as small brown spotting in a few areas on two of the pink flowers, a bit on some purple and perhaps other flowers, an occasional brown spot on a green leaf area, and multiple tiny brown spots coming thru on the triangular blue base. The front side was thickly repainted but there is an unevenness with this paint appearing thinner or thicker in some areas and a number of dots or tiny burst air bubbles in the paint. For shipping purposes, this cast metal doorstop is heavy as would be expected, weighing over 3 pounds unpacked. Therefore, this piece will need to be shipped via U.S.P.S. Standard Post or Priority Mail depending on your shipping zone and address and the related prices which the system offers to you when inputting the order. If you choose to ship via Priority Mail, there may be an advantage (depending on where you live in relation to my ship point near Philadelphia, PA) to using their Medium Flat Rate Box. For postal zones closer to us, regular Priority Mail will be cheaper, but for postal zones further away (ie. Southwest, West Coast, etc.), this item will fit in the Medium Flat Rate Box and that option could be significantly cheaper for shipping.
Vintage dog doorstop. Incised mark: 18-7 Dream Boy, Copyright 1949, V.A. Metalcrafters, and VM logo, Waynesboro, Va., and initials W.K. This pooch is 9 inches tall x 7 wide and is cast iron. This large glass apple was perhaps intended as a doorstop? Great accent item for your home. Stands 5.75 in. tall and measures about 4.25 in. diameter at the top. Slightly indented bottom. Colors are beautiful and the clear glass encasing it has rows of concentric bubbles. I find no damage.
This large glass doorstop or paperweight is shaped as an aquarium containing fish swimming. Measures 9.5 in. long, 3.5 in. wide and is 5.5 in. tall. Heavy, weighs 9 lbs. I find no damage. A great accent to any room or area in your home and would be amazing if placed where the light can go through it. Not sure of vintage. Perhaps a contemporary piece from the '90's?
A large cast iron doorstop that is electric and stands 18.5 in. tall. The diameter is 17.5 in. This is in working order but I always feel they should be rewired or at least checked out by a qualified electrician to be on the safe side. This doorstop appears to have been repainted. Would also serve as a night light or to accent a corner?
A vintage cast iron doorstop. This ship stands 9.5 in. tall and is 10 in. wide. About 2.5 in deep. In good, usable condition. I think this doorstop is from the '30's era. Normal amount of paint missing. Enough retained to give it a wonderful finish. I find no breaks, etc.

The bootscraper was designed to clean your boots of debris before entering your home or a place of business, This black cast iron Dachsund bootscraper measures 14 in. long. He is 5 in. tall and 5.5 in. diameter. This is a new item to use and display. Will also make a great doorstop.
A vintage doorstop, figurine made of cast iron. This one has been in my own home for over 50 yrs. I can't give you the exact vintage as it was purchased at an estate sale. It measures 10.5 in. long, 5.5 in. wide and 5.5 in. tall. Reinforced with two bolts/screws inside that hold the 2 halves together. One between the head and another between the body halves. Has flat headed screws that appear just a tiny bit rusty. The green painted eyes show some loss of paint due to many washings. Perhaps the bow around its neck was painted at one time. Very well detailed and I have never had to feed it or clean a litter box. Perfect pet and adds a homey touch wherever you place it.
Patented antique painted iron doorstop. c:1846. This item feels like solid iron; has tole style painting on it, and raised mark: M.A. Boone, #1, Pat'd Dec. 5, 1846. It looks sort of like a Dutch shoe shaped sad iron. Top of handle has initials: FGR painted on it. This would be great as a doorstop, or in your new, made to look vintage laundry room! Very unique antique! Pic #4 shows the bottom of iron. djau5.06recpt
Antique Royal London Mail Stagecoach doorstop. It features 2 gentlemen atop a mail stagecoach. Has the initials: GR N17, and pat. pending on one of the wheels. It stands 7 tall x 12 long. Good overall condition, (couple specks of white paint drips near horse's eye). This item is not grainy as a newer cast iron piece would be; the metal is very smooth, indicative of an 'antique' doorstop. It is shown in the book on antique metalware, 2nd edit, pg. 67. A wonderful antique collectible! This item came from the estate of a deceased car executive here in MI; he had very fine items that were in very good condition. 5/06estaucs
Victorian flower basket cast iron doorstop. Small antique doorstop, but mighty! It is 6.5 tall x 3.5 wide. Backside is a bit rusted as expected for antique iron. The iron is not grainy as a newer doorstop would be. Not marked, but it is likely a Hubley. Great for the garden also! 9.05djau#1169
