Antique irridescent art glass vase. The color looks like 'green bronze', possibly a Loetz or Webb piece. This item has an old paper label on bottom: g? 8, #721 Webb ca.1900. It is 4.5 tall x 5.25 wide across body. It has 3 multicolor applied glass decorative areas. If you turn it upside down, there appears to be an old break at the end of one of the applied areas and a fleabite, see pic #8. This is an old break because the edges of it are smooth; it may have occured when it was made. The pictures show some tiny surface wear but in reality, nothing is visible to the naked eye except for minor imperfections that are present in all antique art glass. Other than the paper tag, it is not marked Webb but it does look like something Webb or Loetz could have made. It is a a gorgeous piece of art glass. Price is firm. 1/13gau#

Cleopatra's Needle (the London monument), made in milk glass by Greener & Co. This souvenir of Cleopatra's Needle was made in 1877, the date when the obelisk was to arrive in London from Egypt to be erected on the Embankment. (The ship carrying the obelisk sank in the Thames, and so it was not erected until September 1878). This item was made as a souvenir for general sale, so is a little crudely made. The glass is showing signs of stress where the chamfered point of the obilisk occurs - where the glass meets, it is not perfect alignment, and feels rough, as if a small chip is here. If you examine this area under magnification you can see the construction. Strangely, it looked perfect until dust showed the glass seams. Measures 22 cm high, with a base of 8.75 cm diameter (8.3/4 inches by 3.1/2 inches). Quite a rare item.
