Carnival Glass Imperial Glass Grape Tumbler With Panels
These tumblers are not signed with the IG mark; therefor, they made prior to 1952. The tumblers were made with and without interior panels: these have the interior panels. I note that one tumbler has a deeper marigold color while the other has a much more shiny, almost silvery iridescence (please see the photos). I mention this in case one would want one of a particular finish: one or both, either finish is your choice. I find no damage to either glass, although there is a straw mark or two present.
Carnival Glass Scroll Embossed 7 1/2 Inch Purple Bowl
This is one of Imperial Glass's earlier carnival glass patterns: it was then called Azur, iridescence over cobalt blue glass. The ruffled, single-crimp bowl measures 7 1/2 in diameter with very flashy, multicolored iridescence. When back-lit, one can see the difference between the plain exterior and design pressed into the interior and foot (please see photos). I find no problems with the piece and am pleased to offer am example of a short-lived patten in a vintage finish. By all accounts, Imperial got this bowl right. A fantastic addition to a collection!
This pattern's berry bowl is oval shaped rather than the usual round berry bowl. The oxblood colored glass is a little deeper color than true amethyst. It is a judgement call and it seems the case here, to me; however, I may not be correct. The iridescence is excellent, the cherries standing out in golden colors and multicolored hues surrounding the surfaces. There is a small chip on the rim of the foot and is shown in the photos; not really detracting from displaying the piece. Oxblood is a little dearer than amethyst, so to err on the safe side, the price (relative to amethyst) is towards marigold.
The Imperial's Grape pattern was reissued in 1962 to 1972: the IG logo on each piece confirms this period. The set consists of a pitcher and 6 tumblers. Massive is the term for the pitcher and substantial for the tumblers. A strong point of Imperial Glass was the deep, complete and brilliant iridescent their carnival glass pieces display: this set is no exception. The provenience of this set is: it was bought, taken out of the box and placed in the china cabinet, where it remained until I obtained the set: all pieces are mint in every dimension. This set really does take one back to the EAPG era of large glass items.
This royal blue vase has very shiny, multicolor and bold iridescence: truly magnificent! The Fenton glass workers got it right. The vase is about 10 inches tall, at the highest crimp. Any carnival collector would be very pleased to display the vase.
This 9 inch bowl with 8 ruffles has the Grape Leaves interior pattern with the Blossoms and Palms exterior pattern. Near the edge, multicolor bands of iridescence encircle the interior and exterior surfaces. The leaves of the interior pattern take on a silver-golden sheen, very distinctive from the marigold color: it is really quite beautiful. The Northwood circle-N is embossed on a raised button in the interior center of the piece.
Imperial Glass Co made these wine glasses in the Imperial Grape pattern with marigold iridescence in the early 1900's. The iridescence is strong and flashy; there is no damage to the glasses. However, I do notice one glass with a deeper marigold shade and five glasses with a somewhat lighter marigold shade. They have been grouped in the photos in this manner. One could use all the glasses together with no problem, it's just some people would prefer one or the other. The glasses were display items in a New Orleans and a Natchez, MS home, so I do not believe they were ever used. If they were used, great care was exercised. The glass is 3 7/8 inches from foot to bowl rim, the bowl is 2 inches in diameter at the rim and the bowl holds 2 ounces. I will ship 1 to 6 glasses per buyers' instructions: please use the Ask A Question button. Thank you.
Northwood produced the Bushel Basket in two geometric versions, each with a different pattern on the handle. The offered piece is the round version with a continuation of the handle decoration below the basket rim. Iridescence is undamaged; basically, golden with hues of amethyst red, blue and greens. There is no damage to the glass. There are underfill marks on the interior side of the handles and the rim with straw marks on the bottom. It is a nice piece with great mould work, lots of personalty, all combining to display the technical ability of the period.
Northwood's Acorn Burrs pattern was originally named Chestnut, which the design is made to show. The marigold finish is applied over clear glass, giving this bowl a light, uniform exterior finish. Iridescence is flashy and the piece has no damage. The pattern is one that is very detailed.
Dugan Glass Co. produced carnival glass from 1909 to 1913. The powder box and lid pattern Dugan produced is known as Vintage, embossed with grape bunches, leaves and other grape stuff, with beads on the lower part of the powder box. There is a mould seam on the box rim that is due to glass under-fill, not damage and some straw marks on the bottom on the powder box. On the lid rim, there are some chips and flakes present and mould roughness on the edge. The iridescence is golden and sparkly; heavier on the lids' center becoming lighter toward the rim. Exterior iridescence of the powder box is somewhat darker than the lid. All considered, the piece has seen some use and in more than reasonable condition for being made and used (at least) 100 years ago. Please use the Ask Questions button for more information. Thank you.
Fenton Blue Stretch Carnival Basket & Clear Blue Handle
Blue Carnival glass is a somewhat scarce color and when combined with stretch glass, the effect is unique! The basket's blue stretch glass bowl is ribbed on the foot and inside (looks somewhat like the Windsor pattern). The exterior of the bowl has no pattern, just finished in blue stretch carnival. The clear blue, applied handle has no finish and the Target handler mark. Marked on the bottom with the oval Script F and zero, indicates the piece was made in the 2000 decade. However, the basket was bought in 2004, so the manufacture date is narrowed a little further. Approximate dimensions are 8 3/8 in. overall height with the handle 4 1/4 in. above the bowl. The longest part of the bowl is 7 5/8 in., outside- to-outside. The piece comes with its' original box, shipped double-boxed and insured. For the carnival glass or basket person, this should have great appeal.
Fenton Holly (Holly And Berries) Carnival Glass Bowl
Offered is an example of Fenton's Holly or Holly and Berries pattern double-crimped Royal Blue carnival glass bowl. The the interior of this 9 1/4 inch bowl has two distinct iridescent colors. About 2/3 is predominately hues silver/blue and remainder is red/golden in color. The exterior of the bowl has no pattern but the iridescence forms concentric circles around the bowls' blue foot. The unique iridescent composition combined with the clean Holly pattern present a beautiful piece. A carnival glass collector would be happy to own and display this piece. The bowl is in mint condition and will be shipped double-boxed and insured.
Daisy And Button Original Formula Carnival Glass Basket
Fenton reissued carnival glass with the original formula amethyst in 1970 and saw the first use of the oval Fenton logo. This mint-condition basket was only made in 1982, marked with this logo and the number 8 , indicating it was made in the 1980's. The foot design is alternating small and large scallops with rays on the underside. The carnival finish is stunning on this piece: purples, greens, blues golden hues (and more) over amethyst base glass. Approximate dimensions are (in inches):6 1/2 long, 2 1/2 wide and 4 high.
This covered honey container in blue carnival glass is shaped as a bee hive with embossed bees on the exterior. Stands 5 in. tall and has a 3.25 in. square base. 3 in. diameter at the top. In very good condition. Produced by the Boyd Art Glass Co. I believe. This is a new collectible made in the USA and I understand the Boyd Glass factory is closed.
We are pleased to present this excellent condition 1920s era Carnival Glass Bowl. This Nappy is Leaf Rays by Dugan Glass in Peach Opalescent. This one handled nappy bowl is most often seen in a spade shape, this soft ruffled shape with the crimped rim is more scarce. This Dugan shape was also found in colors of Marigold, Amethyst, Green, Blue, White and Clear and it would have been produced approx 1910 to 1925. HISTORY: The Dugan glass lineage also traces its history to the Indiana Glass Company, which operated from the Indiana , Pennsylvania factory from 1892 to 1896. The Indiana Glass Company was plagued with problems; it shut down in either late 1893 or early 1894. In February 1896, the closed plant was leased for the next two years to Harry Northwood who ran the plant through the early 1900s with the help of Thomas Dugan. In January of 1904, the Dugan Glass Company was formed, with Thomas E.A. Dugan as Superintendent. The sale of the plant by National to Dugan fortunately included many Northwood and National Glass molds as well as up to date equipment, and the current inventory of glass on hand, allowing Dugan to hit the ground running. Condition: excellent
