Great Expectations Antiques

Condition: Very Good
Manufacturer: Greenlee Tool Co. Rockford IL U.S.A.
This is a clean, rare, spiral ratchet screwdriver, comes with it's original box. It is marked "GREENLEE ROCKFORD ILLINOIS MADE IN U.S.A. NO. 448" on the nickel plated area near the selector switch. It measures 16" long overall without the screwdriver tip, has a very nice rosewood handle that has a clear lacquer finish over it. The handle is solid with less than normal wear, very nice with just a few minor ding in the hardwood, lacquer and stain looks very good, as seen in the pictures. The steel screwdriver head and spiral shaft is in very good useable condition with very little minor wear on the bare metal surfaces. This model is a non-return spring type, which means the spiral system doesn't have a quick return spring, you manual return the shaft the to position you wish it to be in. Nickel plating is 99% intact. The selector on this one moves smoothly and holds position very well, three position, left, right, lock. The bit is removable, and has a 9/32" or .280" diameter shank, and will except that size Yankee Phillips adapter bits that we also offer for sale (under Yankee with the search feature). It will also accept other Stanley or North Brothers, "Yankee" bits with the 9/32" diameter, in fact it has a Yankee Phillips head bit in it that is included. This is one of few of these I've seen to date with the rosewood handle, considered rare! A good clean, ready to use screwdriver! Basically it's a Yankee screwdriver with some minor changes to the handle design, but will lock with the spiral shaft fully inside, (like the 30A Yankee for example) shortening the screwdriver to 10.5" long for ratchet or normal use. When the spiral shaft is fully extended it is 16 inches long with no bit in the end chuck. Also included is 5 interchangeable screwdriver tips, one Phillips, and 4 different slot bits, plus I am including a 1/4" drive socket adapter, so you can also use this screwdriver as a nut or bolt driver. The box is solid, has some wear, but not torn or deformed, has a good matching label at one end of the box. A top quality made, very rare tool...with the original box too!
