Antique Tiles

Manufacturer: Hartford Faience
This piece was geared more towards the insulator side of the business. If you look at the ribs on the outside edge they do remind you of insulators. Hartford Faience was in business from 1894 - 1991 - in Hartford, Connecticut. They were known for producing exquisite art tiles. They started making "electrical porcelain" in 1905. This piece was made in 1954 to commemorate the company's 60th anniversary. Made out of porcelain and glazed dark brown. It measures 7" in diameter and is 1 1/4" high. Designed as an ashtray. There is a 1" tight hairline (on the bottom) at 11 o'clock. Generally in very nice condition. (#T-1272)
