Bakelite and Plastics

Apprx 16 long adjustable choker necklace, about 5/8 wide, awesome piece. Black segments are either bakelite or another vintage plastic, set in silvertone chrome plated metal. Smart looking, feels great on. Circa 1940s-50s. Very good condition.

Apprx. 3 1/2 by 3 1/2 , huge figural Maltese cross brooch, light tortoise shell colored plastic, possibly lucite, with a round black plastic center. Embedded C clasp on the back, circa 1940s-50s, very good original vintage condition.

Apprx 8 long and 1.5 wide, mod mid century 1950s-60s yellow plastic art deco style bracelet. I've had similar bracelets in bakelite that have sold for $100s...this is a smashing lower price bracelet that is still vintage and would compliment any collection of antique bakelite. This is very cool! Early plastic 1 3/4 tall 2 handled vase pin decorated with carved pink flower. There is a narrow opening the length of the vase. You would have to use delicate flowers like violets,clover, johnny jump ups and other fine stemmed plants which would be in keeping with the size of the vase.

Lovely 2 1/4 long oval celluloid flower pin is cream, light pink and celery green. Clusters of raised flowers in the center have very detailed molding, they are framed by a ball and v design. marked Occupied Japan on clasp.

This great bracelet makes a statement, but I am not quite sure I know what it is! The silvertone metal double curb link bracelet measures 7 inches long. The charms are pebble shaped and teardrop shaped lavender and white marbled plastic. The pebbles measure 3/4 to 3/8ths inches long and the teardrop pieces measure 1 1/4 inches long. There is a foldover locking clasp and no markings.

Lovely 18 long frosted lavender-pink 5 round petal 3 dimensional flowers with glowing translucent dark honey ball centers. Flower and centers on separate wires and attached to translucent lavender-pink celluloid chain. Chain ends have different color links and metal closure. Very good.

Celluloid insert in silver tone metal of the Roman God Apollo mounted on a rearing great white stallion naked with only a Roman helmet on his head slaying a giant serpent with a spear. Marked on back: Bastian Bros. Co., Rochester, N. Y. 1 1/2 diameter.

Looking to date to the late art deco or retro moderne era, this pin has a trombone clasp and a rectangular ivory colored plastic piece that is either French bakelite, Galalith, celluloid or another plastic. I'm honestly unsure. The brooch has a wonderful style with a raised brass figural on top of a winged griffon (griffin). Perfect for anyone who collects plastics and mythological creatures like dragons (dragon) and griffins (griffons). Great condition! Plastic piece has subtle warping on the corner, but nothing that detracts or devalues in my opinion. Sold as if with original unpolished patina...superb!

From my private collection, these shabby chic funky mod earrings are bright colorful long shoulder dusters. The diamond shaped pair is orange iridescence and are 3.5 long clip ons. The other pair is florescent yellow and bright pink geometric shapes on gold tone metal findings and are also 3.5 long as well. In great condition, these two pairs are free of damage or repair and ready to accessorize your hippie and everyday outfits.

Lovely authentic early 1900s black celluloid hair comb, meant to be worn on the back of the head, measures about 7 1/2 long by nearly 5 wide, beautiful and ornate lace work design. NEW PIcS to come! Comb is BROKEN. ALL tines have come off and there is a nick off the corner. Priced accordingly.

Apprx 15-16 long, authentic art deco flapper era celluloid necklace, pink celluloid links with three flowers with leaves dangling between them. Absolutely pristine! Terrific toggle clasp, detailed leaves, three dimensional flowers, circa 1920s-30s. Looks great!

Not for the shy woman, these vintage marbled Bakelite earrings are 1 ½ in diameter! (See them in the larger-than-average hand of our model to get a sense of size.) They are marbled with hypnotic swirls of green and pale yellow. The earrings have gold tone pierced posts inserted into the Bakelite - now that's a secure finding! Large and Lovely Sparkling Crystal and Black Lucite Flower Pin/Brooch The brooch is 2 1/2 inches around, and the raised Crystal center is clear and Sparkling.

From my keeper collection, chunky vintage bangle. Feels like bakelite, though I think it may be lucite. It is half black and half white. Interior diameter is about 2 5/8 and the bracelet is about 1/2 wide and 1/2 thick. Minimal wear, no damage or repair, excellent vintage condition. Circa 1940s-50s, maybe 60s.

AWESOME ring! Nice size, symetrical retro modernistic design, about 7/8 by 1/2 at the top, art deco inspired, Red and blue stripes for a different look from every angle and direction! This Grape Shaped elegant 1950s clothing accessory is no doubt part of a Vintage Mid 20th Century Lucite Moon glow Necklace. Eight 8mm pastel pink balls are set on a Goldtone setting shaped like a bunch of Grapes. Leaves are openwork. This is a marriage of two pieces as illustrated. The black oval disc is about 2.5 by nearly 2 , and the red piece appears to be from an art deco belt buckle. Decent condition with a miniscule hairline on the backside that doesn't come thru to the front. I will leave the epoxy job up to you. Authentic 1930s-40s bakelite.

From my own collection, unsure of its material...possibly bakelite but this color is different from bakelite that I've seen. Also the weight is a little lighter than expected for bakelite. Ivory, off white, light cream color. That said, this is an incredible piece. Heavily hand carved in an amazing deep leaf design. Bracelet is assymetrical and as carved on the sides as much as the top. Really different. Nearly 1 at its widest point, tapering in and out thinner and wider. Approximately 7/8 at its thickest point, oval opening 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 interior diameter. One of the chunkiest, most carved bangles I've ever had. No damage or repair. Great addition to any collection of vintage bakelite or plastics.

From my own collection, this can be a spacer or worn alone. A tad shy of 3/8 wide, approximately 2 5/8 interior diameter. Nice hand carved V shaped etchings, repeats 8 times around the bracelet. Great condition, minimal wear.

Old vintage bakelite that has been made into a dot bracelet more recently. Well made, high quality, embedded dots. Approx 3/8 wide, nearly 1/2 thick, 2 5/8 interior diameter. Nice rounded bangle. Won alone or with others. Bright marbelized orange red bangle w yellow mottling. Two oval blue dots and two oval yellow ones. All are mottled. VERY nice! Cannot feel where the dots are connected, a sign of a high quality piece.

Jet Black Faceted Glass Bead 30 inch Necklace Czech ? Beads are 7mm or just over ¼ inch. Each is separated by a black glass seed bead. Possibly made in Czechoslovakia. It is unmarked. The strand is 30 inches long. Fasterner is goldtone and works nice. Clasp is shiny, metal ring is slightly tarnished. This is a beautiful vintage necklace, a super gift that would be an elegant accessory to wear. Very nice addition to a vintage jewelry collection.

Art Deco hinged bangle. Base metal and clear rhinestones. 1/2 wide and the inside opening is 2 1/4 .

This is probably the most wonderful Cat brooch that I have come across. I am NOT sure if it is Bakelite, as the simichrome comes off a 'grey' color. It IS old, and the Color is Fabulous, it is a Burnt Pumpkin to Orange color. The Kitty is 3 5/8 incheds long and 2 1/8 inches wide. From the facial features I am guessing the Cat is from the 50s 60s. He is wearing a Green Bow, and the Eyes are gold.
