Cut mixed metal of tin, copper and brass are used in the creation of these butterflies. They are designed to be used either as pins or pendants, so you could have one on your jacket and use one as a necklace. They are substantial, measuring 3 by 3 ; and 2.25 by 2 inches. Condition: Very good to fair; The larger one has some loss of the shiny finish. If it bothered you, you could paint a thin layer of clear finger nail polish over the top.

Another 1940s figural brooch, NOS, of a bull fighter - or matador - sweeping his cape over the charging bull. Brooch is gunmetal color with cold enamel accents in black and red and clear rhinestones. Matador is in his toes avoiding the bull. Only the confused bull's head is visible showing bright rhinestone eyes. 1940s Bull Fight brooch is in excellent, original, and unpolished condition, unworn, with a secure safety clasp. quite dimensional and great design. Extremely rare red enamel heart which is broken with a torch running through it. Hearts are one of the highly collectible figural costume jewelry, and this one is a real gem. The enamel is in excellent condition. The back looks like base metal with a silver overcoat. Measures 2-3/8 inches. Circa 1920's-1930's. This is so unusual I did some research to find out what it symbolizes and came up with the following: Since at least 1927, to carry the torch (or carry a torch for someone) has meant to continue to love and pine for someone long after the object of affection has left the building and any reasonable hope of amorous success has passed. By 1934, romantic ballads of lost love and broken hearts were known as torch songs, and female nightclub singers who made them their specialty were known as torch singers . Much earlier, in 1775, we have this reference to the burning torch in the Epilogue to Irish playwright Richard Brinsley Sheridan's comedy 'The Rivals' [citation]: In female breasts did sense and merit rule, The lover's mind would ask no other school; Shamed into sense, the scholars of our eyes, Our beaux from gallantry would soon be wise; Would gladly light, their homage to improve, The lamp of knowledge at the torch of love! So much for 16th Century poetry, but interesting none the less. Great symbolism for Valentine's Day. Condition: Very good, It is obvious that some of the stones have been replaced, but in general the brooch looks extremely well for its age.

This birdie is molded plastic set with rhinestones and attached to brass with rivets. Similar bird shown in Warman's Jewelry, 4th ed. by Kathy Flood. Probably French, 1950's. A regal bird--perhaps a Dove or Love Bird?--sits atop a giant cut-crystal facetted heart to create a royally romantic brooch pin! The heart alone is 1 1/8 wide by 1 1/8 high and 7/16 thick. The rhinestone pave' bird is 7/8 tall and has a brilliant rhodium-plated body and a black eye. The heart has a protective rhodium-plated back and swings freely from the feet of the bird. The pin, attached to the bird, has a safety clasp. This is an old stock/unsold item and is in excellent condition.
