Egg Cups

Up for sale is pottery duck egg cup. It has a mark on bottom that is hard to make out. All I can read is --St. Pottery, Hand Painted,----. It measures approximately 3 long, 2 1/2 tall and 1 1/2 wide. It is in good condition. There is a little wear on the bottom rim. A cute addition to your collection!

Silver-plated egg cup castor with four egg cups. Pretty holder having an ornate design of ribbons and bows, and a scalloped edge with decorative beading and fleur de lis between the scallops. The handle is also adorned with beading. The egg cups have ribbon and bow swag, a raised band with beading at the neck of the stem, and swirled ribbing on the stem and foot. There is also beading below the rims and foot. This set is manufactured by Corbell and Company. The manufacturer marks are on the base of the holder and on each cup. The bottom plates of the cups come off, and the mark is beneath this. Please note that the bottom plates come off easily when the cups are lifted from the holder. These may need to be re-glued on some of the cups. Circa: Mid 20th Century. Castor Size: 8 inches tall; 5 1/2 inches wide. Egg Cups: 2 7/8 inches tall. Condition: Used.

Rooster Egg cups set in wonderful blue. This different set has the rooster with great detail and the half egg on both sides of him for the egg cups. It is not marked and is 4 1/4 inches high, 5 inches wide and 4 inches deep. It looks so cute but view all of the pictures as one egg cup has a crack. Still a great piece and sold just as found.

The eggcup measures 4.3 inches high by 3 inches in diameter at the widest and was made in the 1940s. The eggcup is in very good ++ condition with but does have a shallow chip on the rim of the big cup.

This is an antique English Tonbridge Ware treen egg cup made in Tonbridge Wells, England 1880-1900. The Tonbridge Ware egg cup, sometime spelled Tunbridge measures 3 inches high and is 1.75 inches in diameter. Tonbridge Ware is a painstaking inlay work with colored and dyed wood pieces put together in a pattern then sliced and inlaid into a wood object. They are incredibly labor intensive and very difficult to find. The wood of this eggcup is a medium dark wood and the inlay work features red accent pieces. The egg cup is all hand made, turned and inlaid and is in very good +++ condition with no pieces missing but the seam is clearly visible. Wonderful. From an English egg cup collection I acquired on my last visit.

This is a cool Martin Gulliver Designs, England bright, primary color polka dots eggcup and matching under plate set. The eggcup is 5 inches high and the plate is 3.5 inches in diameter. Both pieces are in excellent, mint condition with no chips, cracks or wear. So cool!

This is a very unusual pair of porcelain single cups that have been identified by a technical expert as chemical crucibles made in the 1920-1930s by Royal Worcester, England, then related to Steatite and Porcelain Company, Ltd. Each of the cups measures 1.25 inches high by 1.75 inches in diameter. I originally had them listed as eggcups, as that was the suggection of the Worcester expert on the British Antique Ceramics website, and they could be used as such! The mark was used only on scientific ceramics but they came with an English eggcup collection! Very fun and unusual. In very good condition with no chips or cracks to the fine porcelain. The bottoms are unglazed. The glaze was affected when the name stamp was added during manufacturing. Neat!

This is an antique double eggcup in the imari style made by T. J. Booth 1883-1891 who became Booths in 1891. The egg cup measures 4.5 inches high by 3 in diameter and has hand painted decoration in the imari colors of cobalt blue, rust and gold and the pattern is Fresian. The eggcup is in very good condition with no major flaws except gold trim wear, but there are some minor imperfections which are expected from items of this age. There are firing flaws and a few mineral kiln dust inclusions. These are so very beautiful and collectible.

This is an unusual pair of chrome plated eggcups or egg cups with lids and celluloid bases and finials with fitted wool liners to keep your boiled eggs warm as they travel down the chilly corridors from the servant's quarters to the breakfast room. The boxed set of eggcups and cosies were made by Kosy Kraft, England 1920-1930s. Each egg cup measures 4 inches high by 2.25 in diameter. The eggcups and cozies are in mint condition but the box, I am sorry to say is not. The box has been broken long ago and taped in several different decades and is now apart again. But the big prize are the eggcups which are in perfect condition, so practical and so rarely seen.

This hen egg cup is marked on the base: Fannie Farmer. When Frank O'Connor came to the United States in 1919 to start an American candy company, he used the same formula here that had been so successful for him in Canada. What better person to name his new candy company after than Fannie Merritt Farmer who revolutionized the art of cooking and recipe writing. Her name symbolized the highest standards of quality, purity, wholesomeness and integrity in food preparation. He opened the first Fanny Farmer shop just four years after her death. It was located on Main Street in Rochester, NY. No better example of this exists than the vast array of designs it created to hold its candy at Easter and Christmastime. Tin, wood, paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, china, papier maché and even wax formed an endless variety of boxes for candy, nuts, fruitcake and other holiday treats.
