Antique Mutual Sunset Lamp Co. lamp. Desk lamp or industrial. Age est: 1910-20's. This company started in business in 1910 in N.Y. and is no longer in business. The style of this lamp looks very arts and crafts. It is marked: MSLC 655. Dark bronzy/brown patina with a greenish tinge. It also has some green patination around the grooved stem area. It is all brass except for the shade which is likely steel. It does work but sometimes it is tricky to get it to light up. I had to lift it up and tilt it and press the button, then it went on. It will be bright or if you press the button again it will be dimmer. You might need to have the cord checked to make sure it is okay for everyday use; if not, re-wire it. It looks okay to me but I am not an electrician. If you have a large desk, it would be a really attractive accessory. It stands 15 inches tall x 15 wide x x about 7 deep. It is a very heavy, sturdy lamp. Nice antique condition; barely any wear on it except on underside of top which doesn't show when lamp is upright. That wear is likely from changing the bulb over the years. 12/13brcs
