Heavy inkwell, very decorative, in the shape of a dog's head. Head opens at jaws to reveal the inkwell inside. Drip tray at front. Made in either bronze or bronzed brass. The letter L is under the base. The liner of the inkwell is missing, but it would take a standard size. Measures about 10 cm high and 14.5 cm diameter (4 inches by 5.3/4 inches). Excellent condition.

This is a vintage Waterman's fountain pen Christmas presentation box [only] and 6 page instruction leaflet. The dark blue or navy box has a cardboard Christmas sleeve with an inscription and date of Dec. 25, 1924. The side of the box has patent dates of 1906, 1907 and 1908; inside lid has a lose Waterman's Ink advertistement. Also included is a 6 page care and filling instruction leaflet for the Self-filling, Safety, Regular and Pocket Type fountain pens, plus instructions for the use of the Waterman's Pencil with the final page advertising the types of Waterman's Ink available at the time. Condition: very good, box has some minor bumping to corners, no splits; Christmas sleeve with overall age spotting but colors still bright; instruction leaflet in VG condition with only minor rips and one age spot. This is the original or first model of Sheaffer's White Dot Touchdown fountain pen in the Statesman model. This model was only made between 1949-1950, after which Sheaffer introduced the same pen in a newer thin or TM model. Made of injection molded plastic in the Evergreen color, it has Sheaffer's conventional open nib hallmarked [14K] with serial number, gold filled innerspring clip and 1/4 inch wide gold filled cap band. Condition: I have left cleaning this pen to the experts; barrel with small use/age nicks/scratches; nib needs replacing [one tip is broken off]; I believe filling system made need cleaning/replacement Questions always welcome.

Colonial inkwell made in rough, natural New Zealand kauri gum pieces. Lumps of gum have been melted together with central smooth circular inkwell section. It has a little lid to cover the inkwell. Kauri gum is the fossilized resin of the New Zealand kauri tree, often called New Zealand amber. Item measures 52 mm high, 102 mm long and 85 mm wide. It would date from colonial period, late 19th to very early 20th century. The finial to the lid is chipped, and there are normal scuff marks. Most unusual NZ colonial item. No stains in the inkwell, so maybe they used a small liner, or possibly has never been used.

Wooden two-tier pencil box with transfer print of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandria with St James's Palace and Windsor Castle on the lid. Slide top to top tier, and tier then swings open to reveal bottom tier. In pencil on the bottom is the name of one of it's more recent school-child owners. Box measures 23.5 cm long, 5 cm wide and 3.5 cm deep (9.3/8 inches by 2 inches by 1.1/4 inches). Very good condition. Normal usage wear.

Interesting European continental antique faience inkwell - white glaze over slightly pinkish white earthenware body. Hand painted in blue designs. Looks a lot like Delft, but I'm not certain. The only maker's mark is a hand painted R underneath (just like the French Robert's faience factory in Marseilles, but I don't think this item is that early - but I could be wrong). Part of the decoration on the lid of the inkwell itself is cross and dots, a little like the Weesp mark. Measurements: 11.5 cm diameter and 8.2 cm high (4.1/2 inches by about 3.1/4 inches). The finial to the lid has been off and some time, and is glued on. There is a scrape to the point of the finial, resulting in lack of glaze there. The inside of the ink pot has had the glaze worn off in two areas, one on either side of the bottom - probably where a sharp dip pen was often rested. The loss of glaze here has resulted in an ink-blue mark. There are three round holes in the top of the stand for holding your pen. Lovely piece, is a good weight, definitely not modern. Inside the carcass, the thick white glaze has not touched all areas giving a good insight into the way the item was made.

Nice Pierre Cardin 15 piece pen and pencil set in original case. Consists of a ballpoint pen, mechanical pencil, mini pen and 12 accessories and refills. Made in China for Pierre Cardin. New in the box. Came from an estate sale.

Nice vintage CROSS soft tip pen with extra refill and in original presentation case. Pen is goldtone and has initials NHS on the side and date 1976. Refill in the pen is dried out due to age. Refills may both need replacing. Fine condition and great collectible pen. 1970s.

Large rectangular desk stand with an inkwell, four lift-out stamp compartments, and spaces for pens, envelopes and paper (folded I presume). Made in sterling silver. Inkwell carries silver mark in the lid of the inkwell, in the stamp holder, under the handles and in the side of the main case. The mark is the Austrian import mark of 1867 plus (Diana's head with scalloped surround and letter A to one side of head). The French mark for small objects is on the lift-out items, and all items bear the letters FR. Whole measures 7 cm high (with the ink bottle making it higher still). It is 36 cm wide and 21 cm deep (2.3/4 inches high, by 14.1/8 inches wide and 8.1/4 inches deep). Excellent condition. Spectacular set.

Vintage Waterman's pen, black case with Waterman's, Made in Canada impressed on it. The nib it 14 carat gold marked Waterman's Ideal, 14kt, Canada . Very good external condition and nib. Flick lever filler, presumably the bladder needs replacing. Pen measures 5 inches long.

Good quality 19th century cut glass inkwell with brass mounts - starburst pattern to cap, round hobnail to under-base. Measures 8.25cm high (3.3/4 inches). It is 5.6cm square (2.1/4 inches). Two very small nibbles to top, but overall in excellent condition. Very heavy.

Advertising Souvenir Memoribilia Advertiser for the Beverage Industry collector. Yellow with Blue Logo, Yellow lettering. Nice condition with light storage wear, possible minor paint nicks or scratches. Eraser has soil, metal has some age patina. Nice stocking stuffer for the Pencil Collecting Buff.

Bevelled glass inkwell, measuring 54 mm high and 69 mm square (2.1/8 inches and about 2.3/4 inches square). It would date from very early 20th century, and has wear on the underneath to support this age. There is a shallow chip on one side. Still a nice piece of glass, and a useful paperweight, since the well is deep enough to accommodate pins or paperclips. Comes with a little pewter liner - but I don't think this is original to it, as it is much less deep than the actual glass well.

Marble desk set from the 1920s. It consists of 5 pieces: a large oblong marble slab with groove for pens etc, and having a hinged lidded inkwell in the left hand corner. This measures 20 cm by 30.5 cm (8 inches by 12 inches), and is 2 cm (3/4 inch) thick - a substantial piece of marble, mounted on four little chromes feet. Separate items are a letter rack (marble and chrome), a blotter roller with chrome handle, a seal with marble handle reading K.G.T. in script, and another instrument which I think was possibly a letter opener, which screwed into the marble handle - only the handle remains, no blade. All in excellent condition. Very heavy!

Large black glass inkwell, with Chinese Gordon Ink Bottle around the neck, and around the body crossed swords, a portrait of Chinese Gordon himself (General Charles George Gordon) with laurel leaves, and Born 23rd Jan. 1833 and Died at Khartoum 26th Jan. 1885 . General Gordon was famously killed during the defense of Khartoum. Ink well measures 71 mm high and 117 mm diameter (2.3/4 inches by 4.1/4 inches). It has a screw thread around the top of the well, so must have once had a lid. Shallow well, definitely not a bottle per se. It is in excellent condition - there is one very shallow sliver of glass off the underneath of the well. Not seen unless you turn it upside down. Most unusual item.

Indianapolis 500 mile race - 1947- 5 complete pages of 10 x 14 inches each in black and white. 130,000 saw the race won by Mauri Rosein which Shorty Cantlon was killed. Lots of great pictures and Maurikisses CAROLE LANDIS at the conclousion of the race.

This pretty little Victorian pencil has either a crystal or a citrine stone set into the finial, engraved with the owner's initials (can't quite read them.. D.E something, can't decipher the last one). The pencil is made in gold - no hallmarks or maker's names, but it would have to be gold of some type - it is very slim and delicate, and has suffered a few little dings along the barrel over the years. The sliding retraction mechanism still works, although I haven't been able to get a lead into it, as I think there is the remains of a lead still in there. Pencil measures 82 mm long when retracted, and 92 mm long when out. It is 4 mm diameter on the barrel (3.1/4 inches and 3.5/8 inches length, and 3/16 inch diameter). Circa mid to late 19th century.
