A Time Remembered

Circa: 1960
Condition: Used
Manufacturer: L.Toni
This hand crafted composition elephant figurine with his trunk up is signed by the artist: L.Toni.
American fascination with the lucky elephant-god of India and the white elephants of Thailand combined in the form of the ubiquitous lucky elephant knick-knack in the early to mid 20th century. In typical American fashion, it was decreed that only those elephant figurines with their trunks upraised were lucky, and should always be facing the door.
The rest were just elephants. The much-publicized endangered-species status of the elephant makes it seem anything but lucky in the modern world.
Beautifully detailed as you can see in the pictures, from the lines in his trunk to his swaying tail, with ears straight out and trunk up high, he actually looks as if he is defending his herd.
In very good + condition without chips, cracks or fleabites he measures 5 3/8 inches high, 6 1/4 inches long and 3 5/8 inches wide, ear to ear.
An addition to any Elephant Figurine Collection.
SH & Ins. will be quoted after orders placed. If you have questions please contact me and thank you for looking.
