I Want My Categories Organized into Groups!

Do you want a page that looks like the one below where the categories are organized into groups?

This is done using the Category Group field and its a very simple and elegant way to organize your page.  Here's how!(Note that this page has many columns across?   You can set the number of columns in your site maintenance menu, site customization!)

  1. Go to your Members Pages (http://www.tias.com/members/).  If your members page is not currently displayed, click this link Members Pages to open it in a new window so you can toggle back and forth between your maintenance page and this tutorial.

  2. Click on the link on the menu that is titled "Maintain Categories" You will see a page that looks like the one below (the colors may be different, based on your mall and the time of year. On this page, you can add or change your Store Category Groups or you can use the 'Change' or 'Remove' buttons to modify or remove categories from your web site.

  3. Type the Store Category Group into the box for each category. Make sure that you type in exactly the same text in the Store Category Group field. Even capitalization or an extra space will cause a problem. For example, if you type 'Pottery' in one category and 'pottery' in another, that will create two different groupings (because of the difference in capitalization).  Typing ' Pottery' (with a leading space) will result in yet a third grouping.

  4. When your changes are all finished, click the 'Update All' button at the bottom of the page and then the 'Update Home Page' link at the top of your menu.  This will recreate your home page and reconfigure it as you've specified.

Note that categories will not display on your main page until there are some items in them.  We've found that it makes shoppers very angry if you invite to look at a category and there's nothing there.  So after adding the category, please proceed to add items and all will be well!
