Adding/Changing Photos of an Existing Item

Click to return to Tutorial Table of Contents

We've found that items generally don't sell without having one or more pictures.  You can have up to eight pictures for any item on your stores.  The normal size of these images is 300 x 300 pixels at 72 pixels per inch; if you want bigger pictures, you can purchase an option for larger image through the menu option 'extras for your store'

The first image is used to create the thumbnail image that's displayed on your category page and your featured items (if you use them), so its a good idea to make the first picture be a general picture of the item.  The other images should be used for close-ups or to show other detail.  You don't have to add an image when you add an item, but (if you didn't), you should add one as soon as possible after your item is added.   Items without images cannot be featured (there is no point spending the time or money -- we've found that buyers simply will NOT click on something without an image.)

Your image may be in any of the following formats: .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .pcx, .pdf, .png, .psd or .tif. Please note that CMYK color mode is for printing, not for display on the Internet and won't work here!  All graphics files will automatically be converted to .jpg files during upload.

To add photos to an item:

  1. Go to your Members Pages (http://www.TIAS.com.com/members/).  If your members page is not currently displayed, click this link Members Pages to open it in a new window so you can toggle back and forth between your maintenance page and this tutorial.

  2. Now click on the link to "Maintain Inventory"

  3. If you know the item number, type it at the prompt on your menu that looks like this and click the 'Find' button:

    Enter item number

If you don't remember the exact item number, but you know the name of the item, enter the name in the input box below that's titled 'Enter item name' and click the 'Find' button:

    Enter item name

If you don't know the exact number or name, you can also view all items in a particular category by using the drop-down selector at the top of the page.

  4. In any case, you'll see the item display:

  5. Now click the button to the right of the item name.  You'll see the item maintenance display page.  Note that the contents of this can vary quite a lot, depending on the data fields you've decided to use.  You can select additional inventory fields using the Site Maintenance / Site Customization Options choice on your menu.

  6. Now scroll down until you come to:
    Picture 1:
Don't Rotate Rotate Clockwise Rotate Counter-Clockwise
(Note: Picture #1 is mandatory for each item, it is the Main Photo for the item and creates the thumbnail).  To view the current image that's loaded for this item, click the button next to it.

  7. To load a file from your desk top, click the "Browse button"

  8. A box will pop up which will allow you to locate the photo on YOUR system that you wish to upload:

  9. Locate the photo on your system and click on it's name.
  10. Now click "Open" this will place the location of the photo into the box to the left of the button.
  11. If you need to turn your photo click Rotate Clockwise or Rotate Counter-Clockwise
(Note: You must perform rotation when the photo is uploaded, this has no effect on an existing photo)

  12. Repeat step 7 thru 11 for each photo you need to change or add.

  13. Click Remove Current 2nd Image, if you wish to remove the existing photo

  14. Now scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the button

  15. The final step - After making ANY changes or additions to your inventory, you need to update your pages before you can "see" your changes on your site! To do this click the button located on the top of your member's page menu.
