Aug. 10-12-13, 1914. The First World War was only days old as the huge German Army marched through Belgium and into France. These three front sections of the Atlanta Georgian capture the growing calamity engulfing Europe. It's interesting that an Atlanta newspaper so far from France would be so dominated by the events three years before the U.S. entered the war. Newspaper coverage was how Americans learned about world events in the days before radio and television. You can feel the growing drama as each day passes. AUG 10, 1914: GREAT BATTLE BEGINS AUG 12, 1914: GERMANS CLOSE IN ON FRANCE AUG 13, 1914: 2.000,000 FIGHTING 4000 CANNON ALONG FRONT. Size: Unfolded 19 wide x 22 deep (folded 19 w x 11 deep) Condition: Good. Though the newsprint is somewhat brittle and has darkened, it is still in surprisingly good condition.
