This is a marvelously crafted and designed hardwood Walking Stick, measuring nearly 36 inches long, with a carving of a Rastafarian male figurehead for the handle and additional decorative carvings on the staff body. The glazed honey color and warm brown tones give that extra visual appeal to the folk art Walking Stick. This Walking Stick had been used by an elderly man, so there is some scuffing, related wear and a few dits of color loss. The word Jamaica has been incised into the back of the artisan carved cane or staff, which can be functional and is also very display worthy. Due to the overall size, we will be shipping this item through UPS Ground Insured to customers within the U.S. only. Please email us for shipping quote.

In the late 1960s the hot colors for decorating one's kitchen included avocado green and harvest gold! Here we have a great practical set of retro vintage footed handled mugs. Each mug stands 4 inches tall and holds 10 ounces of liquid. I love the mod flower power design of this set. On an avocado green background we have turquoise-centered flowers. Each of the petals of the flowers is done using negative space, that is, leaving the white underglaze showing. Funky and artistic both. The set was most likely made in Japan to be imported into this country. They most likely had a paper label which is long gone. The quality of the china body is amazing. Find a great metal period mug stand and add them to your Mid-century Eames-era Mad Men decor today. Price is for the set. Go green! Save resources and purchase a piece of America's past. Couroc of Monterey History: Couroc was formed in 1948 by the husband and wife team of Guthrie Sayle Courvoisier (? - 1969) and Moira Wallace (~1910-1979) . Wallace was a gifted artist, whose early work included mosaic designs built from inlaid metal and plastic materials. Guthrie developed the technology further, and began Couroc company, which produced heavy, durable plastic trays with inlaid designs. Guthrie Courvoisier had learned about plastic during World War II, when he was a contractor who manufactured certain plastic parts for military aircraft. (Plastics were essential to the war effort, for their rather unique qualities.) Like nearly all wartime plastics, Courvoisier's were probably jet-black, unlike the multicolored bakelite of decades prior. In the mid-1950's the company's sales picked up, and it already had a few different designs in its product line. Sales seem to have been mostly in the California area at this time. The company made a special effort to hire local artists for their design work. As the company slowly grew, it created numerous designs, and began expanding its product line beyond merely trays, so that customers could buy matched sets of trays, glasses, ice buckets, and even napkins. In the 1970's Couroc exploded in popularity, selling well in stores across the nation. By the mid-1980's, Couroc's popularity had dropped, and the company was shifting from producing items for the general public, to making promotional items (for sales to corporations or organizations commemorating special events.) In the 1990's, it turned almost exclusively to promotional items. This Couroc center handled tidbit tray is in the famous Roadrunner pattern. It features three of the cool birds running around the center of the tray. On the back is the original gold foil paper label which reads: Couroc serving pieces are cherished gifts because of their variety and beauty of design. Hand inlaid by master craftsmen, shells, coins, woods, and metals are fused into satin black phenolic. They are impervious to alcohol or boiling water. Wash with mild soap and water. There is also an in-relief molded signature in the piece itself. There are four very cool feet so that the piece sits absolutely flat on the table. The handle is brass plated. The piece is in excellent vintage condition. Add it to your Eames era mid-century decor today. Give your place some Mad Men flair.

Myrtlewood is prized for its beauty and durability and can range in grain colors from a light brown, almost blonde like maple, to deeper browns, typical of mahogany. This pair of made in Oregon candleholders are a marvelous example of that grain variety. Each stands a petite 2 1/2 inches tall, and has a 1 inch opening across the brass ring. As the backside label states, Myrtle wood is Nature's gift to Oregon (and parts of California). Found only in those two continental states, the myrtle tree has a long history dating back to Biblical times. It is durable and not easily chipped or worn down, and a fine choice of wood for candle lighting. Manufactured by the Bayview Corporation of North Bend, Oregon, these myrtlewood candle holders are in very good vintage condition with a few minor dings to the wood and some light scuffing to the wood and the brass ring.

Wooden Vintage German Black Forest Cuckoo Clock 1940's
This splendid cuckoo clock belonged to my aunt and I believe it was purchased in the mid to late 1940's. As a youngster, I clearly remember listening to the tick tock and cuckoo sounds. There are fine wood details and carvings to the clock. The vintage piece starts with a clock housing cabinet, and then attached to it is a frame of many hand-carved items. The body of the clock, which resembles a bird house, measures 9 1/4 inches tall, 6 inches wide, and has a depth of 3 7/8 inches. Attached to this is a decorative frame, measuring approximately 12 1/2 inches wide. On this decorative frame are carved tree branches, leaves, and a large bird and rabbit. These figures are flat on the backside for mounting, and three dimensional on the carved front. Another carved item, below the rabbit and bird, looks like an old horse collar. An easily removable 15 1/2 inch top piece is secured in place with metal latches and screw eyes. The measurement from the top of this piece to the bottom of the pendulum is approximately 20 inches. We do have some issues to report. The deer antlers have broken off. We have one original and two replacement antlers. None has been re-mounted. The upper assembly with the deer has a section of a branch where you can see it was glued back. Hopefully, this shows in our picture. To the left of the deer head on the mount, below the first two leaves, you can see a glue up to the branch. Most likely, the branch and antlers breaking occurred in one accident. The upper portion was removable and you could then dust around the clock top. That's a guess, but obviously, it was dropped. The clock tick tocks away after setting the weights in place and swinging the pendulum. The bellows cuckoo when I lift by hand. Sometimes it will work and other times, not. The lifting mechanism needs to be looked at. Everything is here belonging to the clock. The clock, metal chain for the two pine cones, locking weights and the pendulum are ready to restore this wonderfully crafted cuckoo clock to proper working order.
