Linda in Alaska was the last person to submit her story and received hers! Here's her response:

"Thank you for sending the magnifying glass/measuring tape. It's a nice handy little gadget. Appreciate that.
Some of my favorite old stories, if you are looking through them to re-post, are the ones about families finding money in odd places after the death of loved ones. My friend had a box of her uncle's socks that, when she unfolded them, found $20 bills folded into each pair! When she started to toss his old phone books into the garbage bin I told her to be sure to look through them and sure enough, she got at least $60 out of the first one she checked!
There was a story in TIAS awhile back about finding money tucked into fabric bundles that wasn't even suspected til one of the brothers (they were moving these bundles like a bucket-brigade to the trunk of the car) let the bundle hit the stove and it broke, revealing the money! They had to go back through everything they'd already put in the car, as well as all that was left.
When my mother died, we found those old metal band-aid boxes all over the house, each with a wad of bills in it--no band aids, just money! And don't forget to tell people about the old people who hide their paper assets taped to the bottom of a dresser or other drawer! Demented people don't trust others, so they go to all sorts of trouble to hide things of value--only to forget where they put the stuff.
But thanks for the magnifying glass and tape measure "thingie." It's actually very nice!"

Do you have an interesting story to tell about hidden treasures? Send your story to newsletter@tias.com and we may publish it here. If we use your story, we'll send you a handy-dandy TIAS pocket tape measure & magnifier.
