https://www.pinterest.com/TIASAntiques/march-birthstone-aquamarine-or-bloodstone/

Aquamarine is derived from Latin word aqua, meaning water, and marina, meaning the sea. Was believed to protect sailors, as well as to guarantee a safe voyage. The serene color of aquamarine is said to cool the temper, allowing the wearer to remain calm and levelheaded. The 2nd birthstone for March is bloodstone, dark-green jasper flecked with vivid red spots of iron oxide. This ancient stone was used by Babylonians to make seals and amulets.

Here's a request from one of our readers. You can send your recipes to recipes@tias.com:

My mother use to make a Pumpkin Bread with coffee cans. All I really remember is that it had dates in it as well as either pecans or walnuts. She saved her old metal coffee cans and I would help her pour the batter in halfway and bake, it would rise to the top and have the best smell and it tasted wonderful. My mom now has Alzheimer’s and doesn’t remember even making it but it was always a winter staple when I was little, especially around Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Many Thanks!

Here's another request:
Hi – For those of us in Southern California, Helms Bakery had the most amazing baked goods. They had delivery vans that traveled many neighborhoods around Los Angeles. As a child, my favorite two items were their brownies and a “blonde” brownie that had a nut-like flavor. It didn’t have a frosting but had powdered sugar on the top. Their regular chocolate brownie was completely covered in a chocolate glaze. I would love the recipes for either or both of these. I have searched and searched, but to no avail. . . .LINDA
