Getting customers from the Web for free.
Last May, TIAS launched a new online advertising service called
the TIAS Exchange. Take a look at:
http://www.auctionbytes.com/cab/abn/y03/m05/i28/s04

The idea was to make it easy for people just like you, to reach the
200,000+ subscribers who read the Collectors Newsletter, twice
each week and the 170,000 unique users a day that visit TIAS.com

The service is ideal for selling individual antiques and collectibles,
promoting web sites, antique shows, auctions, flea markets, Antique
shops and malls, books for collectors, wanted ads, repair services or
anything else related to antiques and collectibles.

Merchandise listed on the Exchange has also been showing up on
Google, Froogle, TIAS, Yahoo Classifieds and Yahoo's new
product search service. Ads run for a month and include photos.

To get your free customers, place an Exchange ad online at:
http://www.tiasexchange.com/
Simply enter the coupon code# abn682 when prompted and $10
will be deducted from a standard ad, which makes it free. Or you
can use the coupon to get $10 off a newsletter ad. Either way, you
get a bargain and lots of exposure for your merchandise or service.

This offer can only be used once and you must place your ad
before August 18th 2003. You can schedule your ad to start any
time within the next 6 months. What a great opportunity to run a
free ad for the holiday shopping season.

Give it a try today.

Get your site listed at dmoz.org
It's hard to get listed in some categories, because they need editors.
Dmoz supplies a great deal of information to many search engines. One of
the more popular categories for merchants who sell antiques and collectibles
is at: http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Antiques_and_Collectibles/Varied_Merchandise/

As you can see the top level is broken up into alphabetical subcategories.
Most of these do not have full time editors. If you would like to volunteer
to edit one of these subcategories, click on a letter, then click on the
link in the upper right corner, titled "become an editor". Fill out the
form and wait for a response.

If you would like to be listed in this category, there are currently active
editors working on the letters "A" and "M". If you have an online store that
sells "Antiques_and_Collectibles/Varied_Merchandise" and the store name
begins with an "A", you can submit your store at:
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Antiques_and_Collectibles/Varied_Merchandise/A/
If you have an online store who's name begins with the letter "M", you can
submit your store at:
http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Antiques_and_Collectibles/Varied_Merchandise/M/
Be sure to read the listing instructions carefully. There is no charge for
this service.

The other letters need editors and may take a while to get listed in.

Best of luck.

Do Your Homework When Looking for Inventory

Selling new collectibles, reproductions and new merchandise
related to antiques, collectibles and collecting can be a good way
to supplement your income from your vintage items.

There are several things you should do when exploring a new
business opportunity or industry. Make sure there is demand
for the product; make sure you can purchase at prices low
enough to make you a satisfactory profit; and make sure the
supplier is reputable and will deliver goods as promised. Experts
say you should do your homework when evaluating wholesalers
and suppliers. Here are some tips on how to protect yourself,
along with some resources for finding suppliers.
