2. Questions & Answers

Occasionally, we are able to ask celebrities a few questions while they are signing an item for us. Here are some of the responses we have received within the past few months:

John Travolta – recently after the taping of the “Oprah Winfrey Show” in Chicago. His newest film is “Ladder 49”.

Question: Would you ever perform a dance scene again?
Travolta: Sure would like to. I have a role upcoming that I think has a dance scene (in “Be Cool”).

Question: What are your thoughts on “Be Cool”….did you enjoy portraying Chili Palmer again?
Travolta:
I don’t particularly like sequels, but the script was witty and fits well with the original character.

Question: I was able to watch some of the filming of “Ladder 49” in Baltimore, my hometown. Was this role any different for you?
Travolta: Everyone had to do the training and that was a good thing for camaraderie. We wanted the film to look realistic and I think my fans will be pleased with the results.

3. Interesting Items   We conducted appraisals on many interesting signed collectibles recently. Here is a sample of a few items we were privileged to examine.
An interesting guestbook containing many signatures, most importantly the signature of Adolf Hitler, was recently presented for our appraisal.  It appears that the signature was produced in 1922, before his term as Germany's head of state.

Condition of the guestbook overall is very good, though the signature appears to be excellent. This is an important piece and a fantastic example of Adolf Hitler's signature.

We placed a fair market value of $4,000 on this piece.  The appraisal can be viewed at http://www.whatsitworthtoyou.com under the archive section.

We also received a rare autographed sepia photograph, 19" x 12" circa 1916 at White Studio. The occasion was an ASCAP Actor's Benefit. Signatures include Irving Berlin, Oscar Hammerstein, Rudolf Friml, Jerome Kern and John Philip Sousa. Condition as described by owner.

The piece had a great provenance and history – it was a gift to Stan Laurel from his agent and remains the property of Laurel’s daughter, Lois. This is a fantastic and very rare music Americana piece.

We placed a fair market value of $5,000 on this piece.  The actual appraisals can be viewed at http://www.whatsitworthtoyou.com under the archive section.

4. Collecting News For those collectors that want to write to their favorite celebrity and ask for an autograph, the following list of production companies may be helpful:

5. HOT Film / Music Autographs ... celebrity autographs currently at the top of our buyer's want lists:

Here is list of celebrity autographs that are currently at the top of our buyer’s want lists:

  • Gwen Stefani – her new and first solo album promises to be a gigantic hit.  We have been receiving an increased demand for her signed items.  Her autograph has been getting harder to acquire in person.
  • Jennifer Lopez – the always popular diva and actress is getting more attention lately.  Hopefully, her personal life is on a stable track and will not affect her career.  We have had some success obtaining her signature.
  • Jessica Simpson – she is a sensation with the younger crowd and it’s likely her star will shine for a long time.  Seems that she is everywhere!  She is very personable with her fans and usually will sign through the mail.
  • Hillary Duff – this super popular celebrity had the ability to make the transition into different facets of the entertainment at a very young age.  We get requests for her autograph daily.  It is very difficult to obtain signatures from her in person.  We have heard that she will sign through the mail, but cannot confirm this.
