*A Presidential Appointment document (Appraiser of Merchandise - Port of Baltimore) signed by President Abraham Lincoln was recently offered for appraisal. The signature is very bold and determined not to be preprinted or secretarial. The document was also signed by Secretary of the Treasury Salmon P. Chase - dated August 6th, 1861. The condition is good and legible. There is some toning and deep folds that do not affect the signatures. It is noted this is an important historical document that should be photocopied and reported to The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library for their archive.
We placed a fair market value of $7,500 on this item. We are positive that the value could easily be much higher if sold in an auction. The appraisal can be viewed at http://www.whatsitworthtoyou.com under the archive section.

*We also received a 1999 PGA U.S. Open at Pinehurst G.C. cap signed by Payne Stewart (won tournament - deceased), Tiger Woods, Greg Norman and Robin Freeman. All signatures were signed under cap brim and in very nice condition. Signatures appear to be authentic and were obtained by a volunteer for the tournament.

"Wizard Of Oz" Ruby Slippers Stolen
GRAND RAPIDS, MINN. (August 29, 2005) - The most recognizable pair of shoes in movie history - the sequined ruby slippers Dorothy wore in "The Wizard of Oz" - was reported stolen from the Judy Garland Museum in Grand Rapids, Minnesota on Sunday, August 28.
The slippers are one of four remaining pair of the ruby slippers worn by Judy Garland in the filming of the 1939 classic movie.
The famous shoes are owned by Hollywood memorabilia collector Michael Shaw and were on loan to the museum for the summer. Shaw had also loaned the slippers to the museum for the 2004 summer. The slippers were to have been returned to Shaw after Labor Day.
Four pair of ruby slippers remains today. One has been at the Smithsonian since 1979; another sold at Christie's in 2000 for $660,000.
"I am devastated," said John Kelsch, executive director of the Judy Garland Museum.
"Michael Shaw is a friend of this museum and has been a special guest at the Judy Garland Festival for years. The slippers are a major attraction at our museum, the birthplace of Judy Garland. It is our hope that the slippers can be recovered immediately."
The Judy Garland Museum is the home of the world's largest collection of Judy Garland memorabilia on exhibit to the public. The museum opened in l995. Grand Rapids, Minnesota is in the heart of Minnesota's lake resort country, 175 miles north Minneapolis/St. Paul. |

Sandra Bullock SPEED Original Film Worn Wardrobe
The most recognizable costume from the hit movie SPEED. This set, worn by lead actress Sandra Bullock, includes the highly distinctive Arizona Wildcats sweat top as heavily referred to by both Dennis Hopper and Keanu Reeves. Also included is the light flowery dress that she wears. This is one of 4 sets used in the movie according to information from Fox Studios wardrobe. Since at least 2 of the other sweat tops from the wardrobe set had noticable "fake blood" stains (according to dealer sources and from a set recently sold in London), it is very possible that this was the referenced sweat top and logo that was detailed in the movie. There is noticeable wear on both pieces. The dress has minor damage on the left sleeve, (edge piping is loose..3 inches) but easily restorable. The set was obtained by a woman in Queensland, Australia. She and a friend won a radio contest on B105 Brisbane in 1995. The contest was called (A Day in the Life of Keanu Reeves) and coincided with the film's video release. The grand prize was an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles and a personal tour of 20th-Century Fox Studios. During the tour, an employee from the wardrobe department presented her with several items that Keanu Reeves wore on the film set as well as the Sandra Bullock worn sweat top and dress. We purchased the set directly from the owner. All of this is detailed in a statutory declaration along with other documentation from the original owner.
