2. Interesting Items
Oddjob's Hat, Elvis's Belt Sold at Auction
The steel-rimmed derby used by the villainous Oddjob in the James Bond movie "Goldfinger" was auctioned for $33,600. The hat was among several celebrity items, including Elvis Presley's belt, that were sold to bidders from around the world in an interactive auction held Saturday in New York by Los Angeles-based Julien's Auctions.

The hat was from the estate of Harold Sakata, who played the villain in the 1964 Bond movie. The buyer, Anthony Pugliese III, is a collector of Bond memorabilia in Ft. Lauderdale who wants to display it in a pop culture museum being developed in Florida, the auction house said in a statement.

A belt that Presley wore during his 1972 performance in Honolulu went for $66,000, more than six times the auction estimate. The belt was from the estate of late "Hawaii Five-O" TV star Jack Lord and was sold to Neville Tuli, an art auction house owner in Bombay, India.
Other items sold included interview tapes of the late John Lennon for $60,000 and the red evening gown worn by Dustin Hoffman in the movie "Tootsie," which went for $26,400. A total of 269 items sold for $655,000, which included a 20 percent auction commission.

Warhol's Silver Wig Sells for $10,800

Bidders flipped their wigs Thursday at a Manhattan auction where one of pop art icon Andy Warhol's signature silver hairpieces sold for $10,800. The wig, complete with three strips of toupee tape inside, was worn by Warhol during the early 1980s. Warhol began wearing the hairpieces in the early 1960s, and they eventually turned into fashion accessories more than a cover-up for his baldness. Presale estimates for the hairpiece were $4,000 to $6,000.

It was one of several lots put up at Christie's auction house by Jeffrey Warhola, the artist's nephew. A 1977 Polaroid photo of Muhammad Ali, signed by Warhol, sold for $19,200. And a Warhol Polaroid of Mick Jagger from 1975 went for $15,600.

The top items in the celebrity sale belonged to Marilyn Monroe. A black cocktail dress worn during filming of ''The Misfits'' sold for $66,000, while a full-length ermine coat worn by Monroe in 1957 sold for $50,400.
An address and telephone book belonging to Monroe in the early 1960s sold for $31,200, more than double the pre-sale estimate. Many of the entries were written in by the movie goddess' personal assistant, but there were notations in Monroe's own writing for well-known friends like Susan Strasberg, Dean Martin and Sam Goldwyn Jr.

There was also a page in the back of the book with a listing of doctor's numbers, including Monroe's personal physician, her psychiatrist and her psychoanalyst.

A bracelet presented to the late ''Gone With the Wind'' star Clark Gable by his future wife, actress Carole Lombard, sold for $7,800. The gold-linked bracelet had Gable's initials on the clasp, and bore the message, ''I Love You CL.'' It was accompanied by two black-and-white photos of Gable wearing the jewelry. A copy of the book ''Gone With the Wind,'' inscribed to Gable by the film's producer, David O. Selznick, sold for $10,200.

Sandra Bullock SPEED Original Film Worn Wardrobe

The most recognizable costume from the hit movie SPEED. This set, worn by lead actress Sandra Bullock, includes the highly distinctive Arizona Wildcats sweat top as heavily referred to by both Dennis Hopper and Keanu Reeves. Also included is the light flowery dress that she wears. This is one of 4 sets used in the movie according to information from Fox Studios wardrobe. Since at least 2 of the other sweat tops from the wardrobe set had noticeable "fake blood" stains (according to dealer sources and from a set recently sold in London), it is very possible that this was the referenced sweat top and logo that was detailed in the movie. There is noticeable wear on both pieces. The dress has minor damage on the left sleeve, (edge piping is loose..3 inches) but easily restorable. The set was obtained by a woman in Queensland, Australia. She and a friend won a radio contest on B105 Brisbane in 1995. The contest was called (A Day in the Life of Keanu Reeves) and coincided with the film's video release. The grand prize was an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles and a personal tour of 20th-Century Fox Studios. During the tour, an employee from the wardrobe department presented her with several items that Keanu Reeves wore on the film set as well as the Sandra Bullock worn sweat top and dress. We purchased the set directly from the owner. All of this is detailed in a statutory declaration along with other documentation from the original owner. An 8x10 movie promo and original movie poster will be included with the set. This is one of many special authentic collectibles at http://pages.stricklersports.com/8987/PictPage/1922301796.html
