Antique Accents March News
St. Patricks Day Greetings!

I. Tidbits
St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was born in Wales about AD 385. There are many legends surrounding St Patricks Day one being that
of the shamrock. This comes from how Patrick used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the Trinity. His followers adopted the custom of wearing a shamrock on his feast day. Some say that the wearing of the green shows the first signs of Spring.

II. Tips and Tricks
Care tips:
1.Use denture cleaner to remove the buildup inside old bottles, vases, or glasses.
2.Scuffs on leather can often be removed with rubbing with hairspray.
3.Old pewter contains lead, so it is wise not to use it to serve food. New pewter does not contain lead, so is safe for food.
4.On drawers that stick, use wax, not soap to rub over the edges.
5.And an old favorite, use real mayonaise to remove water rings from wood furniture. Several appliations may be required.

The Internet is full of information, but wouldn't it be nice if someone organized it so that it was easier to find? InfoPlease, has done just that. Here, you will find encyclopedias, dictionaries, cookbooks, atlases; all at your fingertips. To start your information quest, head to www.infoplease.com.

Ever wonder how the big restaurants, like Olive Garden, Bennigans, and Furr's Cafeteria, make their one-of-a-kind foods? Now, you can duplicate their recipes by going to Copykat. You'll find recipes so close to the originals, you'll wonder if they came from a disgruntled employee. Check it out at www.copykat.com.

IV. You Asked
Prices?
I get a lot of questions concernig the value of contemporary dolls. As far as I know there is no price guide for the newer ones. The best way to find an approximate value is to find the same or similar(artist, number in edition, size, condition, etc.)doll that is offered for sale or has sold at auction.
This can take some time in searching. If I know the issue price, I normally price these dolls at approximately one half of that issue price.

V. New Items
From sconces, antique lithographs, Limoge, to glassware, new items are listed on the store home page under NEW ITEMS. Items are listed every week.

VI. Specials
If it is green, or has green in it, 20% will be deducted from your order upon confirmation. Previous customers always receive preferred pricing-just e-mail for details.

As I watch the snow falling, I will wish everyone an energized spring, safe spring break and a Happy Easter.

Thanks again for being a part of our newsletter and we welcome your suggestions or questions.
