1. Don't get ripped off
We've heard from several new dealers that the scammers are out
there trying to "make deals". If a deal seems too good to be true, it
probably is.
ALWAYS make sure that you cash all checks and money orders
before shipping merchandise. No matter how real they look, there
are some amazing fakes on the market. NEVER EVER ship an
item until the the money is in your account.
If you have questions about a possible bad order, the merchants on
the TIAS bulletin board can help you out, or drop a note to
support@tias.com We will be glad to give you an opinion on any
questionable order you get through TIAS.

An easy way to get customers
There is a new Web site that publishes news about the antiques and
collectibles trade. Currently there are over 820 media contacts and
individuals that cover the trade, who have signed up to get our weekly
newsletter, which could include info about your online shop. The
Web site alone gets as many as 500 visitors a day and it has only
been online for a week.
This is a free service for businesses like yours. If you post a press
release, the site allows you to track how many times each story you
post is viewed. To get started, go to:
http://www.news-antique.com
We've had quite a few TIAS dealers use this service over the past
week with good results. Take a look at:
http://mostviewed.news-antique.com/ to see actual numbers.
This is a great opportunity for you to get the word out about your
shop, to buyers at absolutely no cost to you.
Keep your press release interesting and list a time and date for the
the event in the headline, if you want to get more readers/customers.
Enjoy!
