Occupied Japan - BIRD CIGARETTE DISPENSER BOX measures
Seven inches by 3 1/2 inches by 4 inches, this vintage wood box has Made in Occupied Japan marked on bottom along with a logo mark (see pictures). It is forties vintage and works by pushing the handle near the bird, which automatically opens the drawer and tilts the bird down to grab with his beak the cigarette that appears as if by magic. Very fine condition and has inlay on the wood top, which slides open to allow loading of cigarettes. The bird is hand painted.
