1947 Rexall Family Almanac And Moon Book With Elizabeth Taylor Cover
This 1947 Rexall Family Almanac and Moon Book was copyrighted in 1946 by the United Rexall Drug Company and features a young Elizabeth Taylor on the cover. It is in good condition and has all of the pages intact with no folds, holes or creases. There is some light soiling and age browning of the covers, the lower corner of the front cover has a very small fold over and one interior page has a half inch long tear at one edge. The pages were a light brown color to begin with and appear much browner in the scans than in person. The hole in the upper corner was original to the booklet for hanging and still has an old string that was inserted for that purpose. There is a monthly almanac with events and births that took place on the days in that month, etc. and advertising for numerous different Rexall products sprinkled throughout. This copy of the Rexall Family Almanac was available at McElroy's Drug Store, The Rexall Store in Carrollton, Ohio and it is 7 3/4 long, 5 1/4 wide and a little over 1/16 thick.

This Victorian trade card advertises Dr. C. McLane's Liver Pills and is in very good condition with no tears, holes, folds or creases. There are a few tiny flecks of surface paper loss at the edges and some minor corner rounding. These pills were a sure cure for sick headache and had been available at R. C. Marshall, Druggist in West Fairview, PA. This card was made by Bufford and is numbered 706 in the lower right corner. This McLane's Liver Pills trade card is 4 5/16 long and 2 15/16 wide.
1950 - Eleven year old girl made a saint - 4 pages of 10 x 14 inches in black and white. MARIA GORETTI, lived near Anzio, when a 19 year old tried to rape her. She resisted and he stabbed her 14 times. She was canonized a Saint in ceremonies in the vatican. Man who killed her pictured now.

1953 - Prisoner exchange in Korea -5 full pages of 10 x 14 inches in black and white tell the story of the Big exchange of U.N. troops who were disabled. The first 100 included 30 americans of 600 maimed and ailing U.N. troops taken to Panmunjom by the reds to trade for 10 times the number of their own men. General Dean was still in captivity. 1951 - Dark Days in Iran story. - 2 pages of 10 x 14 inche of a black and white story. A wise premier, Ali Razmara, is murdered and gies the West some grave worries. Pictures and story of the event shown.
1959 - Great quake that rocked vacationland - 10 pages of 10 x 14 inches in black and white tell a horrible story with pictures galore of a series of earthquakes which struck in the majestic mountainland new YellowStone Park. Hundreds of tourists felt the earth beneath them lurch sickingly. Helicopter evacuated people. Then an encounter with Bears that suddenly became unearthly horror.
1945 - U. S. occupies Japan story - 13 pages of 10 x 14 inches in black adn white. Photographed by Bernard Hoffman, Carl Mydans and George Silk. MacArthur arrives and takes over rules of Japan - Lots of pictures of the Japanese people. Battered pictures of Tokyo as half of the capital is destroyed - Lots of aeral photos and end of the Japanese fleet. 1940 -THE GREAT RETREAT FROM DUNKERQUE - 12 pages of 10 x 14 inches in black and white. One of the great sagas of WW II was the retred of the B.E.F. from Europe(Dunkerque) back to Great Britain. The German onslaught had driven the British and French back to the water in Flanders. A miraculous escape to England saved thousands and thousands of soldiers who could fight again another day. Pictures show the German onslaught and the British forces arriving back in England. It was a story of the Great retreat written by Sergeant Jack Wadsworth.

These people were shot at Sharpeville by the gunfire of white police as they demonstrated against the Union of South Africa's haqrsh racial policies. History of the problem is included in the lengthy story and countless pictures.
1983 - TV series MASH - RIP - 6 papes of 10 x 13 inches in color of the TV series MASH. After 11 seasons, televisions's favorite sitcom shoots the final epiosode and then pulls the plug on itself. This great series of doctors in Korea during the war was probably the greatest series ever presented on TV.
1948 - LIZZIE BORDEN murder trial - 1 page of 10 x 14 and 2 half pages all in black and white. 56 years ago this week, Mr. & Mrs. Andrew J. Borden were bludgeoned to death with an ax. Lizzie hated her stepmother and was accused of the murders. Lizzie was acquitted after several key pieces of evidence against her where thrown out. She died in 1927 at the age of 66. This is a famous and often quoted event.
