Great Band, but with the untimely death of Michael Hutchence the Lead singer, it was, for all intents and purposes,OVER.There are some scratches from over the years, and a small piece of grey Duct Tape halfway down the right side but it is in good shape. Gallieni Battle Of The MarneThis extremely rare original WWI poster is one of the actual newsprint broadsides posted in Paris on September 3, 1914 as the Kaiser's huge German Army was closing in on Paris. General Gallieni promised the citizens of Paris that he would defend the city. The entire fleet of Paris taxicabs was used to rush French reserves to the Battle of the Marne, which saved France from almost certain defeat. Size: 19 3/4 x 25 3/4 . Printers imprint: Paris, Imp. Marcel Piccard, 140 rue de Faubourg-Saint Martin. The poster was printed on fragile newsprint, but the condition is EXCELLENT following a MUSEUM-QUALITY RESTORATION. It has been professionally restored, de-acidified and backed with archival rice paper. TRANSLATION OF THE PROCLAMATION: September 3rd ARMY OF PARIS, INHABITANTS OF PARIS, The members of the Government of the Republic have left Paris to give a fresh impulse to national defence. He and his wife, Marguerite (Gamy), were famous for this type of piece in the early 1900's before WWI. Their hand-colored lithographs (pochoir) celebrated early transportation events of the 20th century. They specialized in airplanes and race cars. This one celebrates the French dirigible, Republic, and the renowned Panhard x 35 . Condition is good. What keeps it from being excellent are a few small tears along the edges and some modest soiling. There is a nicely gilded gold frame in good condition (no glass). Framed size is 21 x 38. Size: 29 x 44 . entire sheet (Or if you want to trim off the unprinted area and have the printed part that includes the 2 ice creams, that area would be 29 x 36 .) By train from Paris and Lyon to Marseille, then by boat to Majorca and the other Belearic Islands off the coast of Spain. Cherry blossom artwork is superb. Lovely colors.
