War Between the States

Unused, patriotic envelope. Titled, "Why Don't You Take It?" this satirical vignette depicts Union General Winfield Scott, and Confederate President Jefferson Davis, as dogs. Scott, at the left, the big dog, wears a chapeau hat and the name Scott is on the dog's collar. Davis, the smaller dog, wears a slouch hat, with the name Davis on the collar, and a C.S.A. flag on his back. The prize of Washington, represented as a large bone, sits between them. Light age toning and wear. Remnants of an old glue stain on the reverse.
