This is a beautiful cassarole bowl manufactured by Iroquois Pottery. It was designed by Russel Wright, and is considered Mid-Century Modern. I believe the color is Nutmeg. Look closely at the pictures. They are pretty accurate. It is approx. 8.25 inches at its widest point, and is approx. 5 inches tall, w/out the lid. It is in exellent condition. Iroquois Usa China Georgian Design Dougherty Pa Classical Pattern
Iroquois China was located in Syracuse, New York and first opened it doors in 1905. This platter is one of the early pieces, it has a detailed black pattern with a classical or Greek type pattern, very popular at in the early 1900's. It is 9 1/2 inches long and almost 6 3/4 inches across, it is marked on the back with Iroquois USA China, Georgian, Design Patented, Dougherty, Phlia M 4. It is in very good condition, no chips but show some light signs of age. It would be a unique addition to your collection!
