The central design on this heavy hand made pottery tray looks a winged sea serpent biting the head of an animal. Or, perhaps, the two animals are really one? Done in a high glaze turquoise, this tray measures roughly 13 x 9, with an inch high pie crust edge. The rectangular center area is a raised surface itself, and then the design is in moderate relief. Generally nice condition, there are some areas of light glaze flaking and other areas where the glaze did not flow. No obvious marks on this weighty piece of clay. (#T-1005)

This hand made panel depicts sailing ships on the water. The bottom tile shows the reflection of the sails on the water. The tiles are tube lined, aka squeeze bag technique. The high glaze colors are very pleasing: beiges, blues, greens, and browns, with the outlining (squeeze bag) done in black. The artists name is at the bottom right, Bond. Although I do not know specifically who this is, the tiles are well executed. I suspect this is from the 1940s, and looks to be American. The panel, with the black wood frame, measures 19 ¼ tall by 7 1/8 wide. It is made up of three 6 tiles. The condition is excellent. (#T-1255) Key words: art tiles antique vintage
A very nice trivet made by the American Encaustic Tiling Co., to commemorate a field day for the Pittsburgh Tile Industry. This is dated July 31, 1926. The motif is based on a design done by Walter Crane (in England), and shows a man boasting about his feats. A whimsical saying also adorns this 6 square tile. In generally very good condition, there are 2 surface scratches (about1 long and through the glaze) near the standing mans left leg. These are in fact, fairly difficult to see. A very nice example of a storybook/fable tile. This series of Nursery Rhyme tiles look great as a set! (#1118) Keywords: AET AETCO tiles antique art collectible
