Vintage art pottery vase. This mixed glaze vase is an oldie with 3 stilt marks on the bottom and 3 feet. It is blue with green. No maker's mark on it. No chips or cracks but there is some scratching on interior bottom likely from having a flower frog in it at some point. It stands 3.25 tall x 7.25 wide from interior rim edge or 8.25 wide total width. It has a tiny dot of clay waste on the exterior and a dip on rim edge, but that dip is glazed over. 12/13s
Vintage elephant pottery planter. He's lucky, his trunk is up! So cute and my personal favorite color: aqua! This planter is 5.75 tall x 6 long. It looks a lot like the McCoy elephant except the ears are different. It feels like a McCoy; glaze is like McCoy, but it's not. So, that means another company made it; perhaps Cameron Clay Products, FAPCO, Camark, etc. White dry clay on bottom feet. It has some glaze skips and pinpops and a teensy fleabite along bottom foot edge. Nothing distracting or major. A very neat old novelty planter. Age est: 1930's. 9/13
Signed contemporary art pottery vase. Incised mark: Boyle 2001, and has a card on bottom: Jack Boyle, San Antonio Pottery, FL. This artist has a shop and has some items on-line. I did not see this particular vase on-line. Nice condition; no chips or cracks. It is 2.75 tall x 6 inches across. It also has a small metal flower frog inside. If you go into a designer showroom they charge hundreds of dollars for a piece of junk pottery from a foreign land. Why not buy something of superior quality from the good ole USA? 6/13scsr
Vintage horse planter. My guess is Brush McCoy. Small planter with faux flowers in it. No chips or cracks. It is 3.75 tall x 4 long. I also have it listed in an assortment grouping if you like collecting vintage usa animal planters. 5/13smc

Vintage clown planter. Not sure who made this item; but it is heaver than most vintage Japan items would be and has 2 runners on bottom which may indicate American Bisque or Brush McCoy. It is 6 inches tall x 6.5 long x 3.5 wide. There is one flaw which is not really noticeable unless you have it right under your nose. The flaw is right under his nose; a little blob of white is under the nose, see pic #6; a prior repair? Not sure. Still a very cute and usable item for plants. Price is reduced for this flaw. 2/13scsr

Harding Black was born near Aransas Pass, Texas and lived and worked in San Antonio after relocating with his family at a young age. He is nationally known for his work with and development of glazes which produce duplicates or variations of the early Chinese porcelain glazes. He is a self-taught potter and his glazes are a result of many years of research and trial and error. Through the years, he devoted his time to the investigation of high temperature firing and the development of a seemingly endless variety of incomparably beautiful glazes. He was also a teacher of the art over the years and generously shared his knowledge with fledgling potters. Harding became fascinated with the provocative qualities of clay early in life. He joined an archeological society at the Witte Museum in San Antonio where he was exposed to examples of contemporary Native American pottery. Through his association with ceramist Rudy Staffel, who he met when Staffel returned to San Antonio, Black learned about wheel throwing. He was able to use the Witte's facilities, was appointed ceramic instructor, and enjoyed a long association with the museum. After leaving the Witte, Black opened his own studio on Broadway where he operated for over 40 years. Mr. Black's artistic contribution to the field of ceramics is immeasurable. His work is exhibited in museums throughout the United States. Brown Transfer Daisies Wall Tile English Victorian Era
This is an antique English hand colored brown transfer or transferware ceramic wall tile with a daisies design made in Staffordshire, England by Lowe and Tams 1891-1895. The architectural antique tile measures just slightly less than .5 inches high by 6 inches square and has a late Victorian era English Arts and Crafts design of hand colored daisies with hand applied raised white slip decorated petals applied over the last glaze. The tile is in very good +++ condition with no cracks or edge chipping but does have a few of the raised white slip petals missing. These hard to find antique Victorian antique tiles make wonderful trivets, I use several antique tiles that way, or mounted on a wall as a decorative accent either by itself or grouped.

Antique Tile Pearl Ware Delft Style Flow Blue Castle
This is an antique tile with a pearl ware glaze of a flow blue hand painted castle design made 1850-1870s. The tile photo does not accurately show the bluish tinge to the white. The tile face is in excellent condition with 2 glaze dimples from manufacturing. The back has mortar residue. A wonderful antique architectural element.

It is rare to find a single pansy ring much less a matched set of 4. We have the larger center ring and 3 matching smaller rings. Embossed scroll and wing decoration positioned just over the 3 stubby feet on each ring. It is marked with an ink stamp Made in Austria as well as an incised 3577 on one foot. The smaller rings are tiny duplicates of the larger ring. One smaller ring was used as a candle holder for some reason which has caused crazing and darkening. Luckily this misuse did not break it. The larger one does have one stress hairline, short, and common on round pottery of that time. This is a stunning set to find! Made between 1900-1918. I am so glad to see it stayed together for over 100 years. The large one is 2 1/8 tall by 7 3/8 wide. The 3 smaller ones are 1 3/8 tall by 3 1/4 wide.
Hand thrown art pottery vase. Blended glaze. Has an incised 'A' on bottom with 3 lines over it; similar to a Vanbriggle mark but not quite. It stands 3.75 tall; no chips or cracks. It would make a great pencil holder! Dry white clay on bottom. 9/09rmcs

Very cute vintage satin white Haeger Pottery baseball boy planter. Nice creamy, heavy planter. It is 5 tall x 5.5 long. I just came across this planter in the larger size with the Haeger foil label on it at an antique shop, so I know for sure now this is a Haeger which is what I thought all along. A lot of Haeger was not marked and just had foil labels which come off over time. This cute planter has one tiny minor fleabite on rim of one foot, see pic #6. Otherwise, very good condition. Stilt marks on bottom. Age est: 1930's-40's. brncs8/09

Gothic Majolica Tile English Mid Victorian Green Brown
This is an antique English gothic majolica tile made in Staffordshire, England 1860-1879s. The architectural antique tile measures .5 inches high by 6 inches square and is a plant based gothic design in greens and browns with raised surface. The tile is in very good condition with no cracks or edge chipping. There is on mark of damage shown in the close up photo. A rare survival with vibrant colors which would be a wonderful trivet...I use several antique tiles that way...or mounted on a wall as a decorative accent.
